Part of me thinks that they know that AI won’t solve all these diseases anytime soon, but make these outrageous claims to justify even higher valuations and are able to raise more funds as the LLM-chatbot pitch is just not enough to compete anymore.

This is the new grift: make tech-messiah promises on 60 Minutes, let the show repackage it as sober reporting, and hope no one notices that the science doesn’t exist. He doesn't “believe AI will cure most cancers, prevent Alzheimer’s, and double the human lifespan.” He believes he can say anything on national TV and no one will call him on it.
