Trump is destroying Kamala in almost every poll/debate etc. The Dems know this and see the inevitable. But the shadow state (which is basically in control of the Dems) don't/won't let Trump back in. Hell, they've literally just passed a LAW in California that ID is BANNED for voting. Why would they do this unless the sole purpose is to truck endless immigrants in to vote for them. So now they won't know if someone is double voting or more...Hell, I could holiday over there and vote for whoever. So I'm fearful that some sort of cyber attack will happen which would temporarily 'pause' elections or some trigger event to really wobble the markets/voting...

@malfletcher I’m sure you know that while this is “one Elon Musk” it is not “the Elon Musk”

@YHenderson94 The good news that God’s kingdom is here. The word means an announcement of a new situation. His incarnation, life and teachings and his death and resurrection are essential but ultimately Jesus is the news and his arrival to announce the kingdom of love and invite us to be part

@YHenderson94 So interesting to read in this thread so many definitions of “gospel” few of which seem to be what Christian’s understand it. I won’t pretend it’s clear and simple. It doesn’t help that we use the word to describe the books recording Jesus life. The gospel is (imperfectly put)…

@owenmorgan Yes the 79 episcopal edition. It’s not quite as clear as “Common worship” from CofE

@PriceLaurence Thanks. What are the BCP alternatives that you prefer in these instances?
English

@owenmorgan - 1970s ICEL Dynamic equivalence translations- eg. "and peace to his people on earth" in the Gloria
- late 1990s upper middle class chirpiness- "supper with his friends"
- I'm sure there are also some fossils of 1980s ASB/ New English Bible language...

@MadsDavies Much of the theological work already done in Asia and Africa in terms of inculturation (cf Vatican II). What we are seeing here (in the best examples) is a RE-inculturation of Christianity in England/UK. The theological work then might be to look at the work and adapt to here

Had a look at a v interesting report analysing ‘new things’ across 11 dioceses. The omission of the word ‘church’ is deliberate as none of the 11 used this designation. A ‘new ecclesial language’ has emerged ‘very quickly’ it says, raising important Qs churchtimes.co.uk/articles/2024/…

“Secularism and Atheism are inconceivable without the Christian worldview.” Fascinating perspective from @holland_tom

@JonnyGoldsmith @YouTube I don’t know. This is a conversation between Jimmy Carr and Steven Bartlett. They mention Tate but only in passing. It’s a bit clickbaity as an image. Jimmy and Steven both talk about missing faith/religion.
English

I wouldn't normally watch either of these individuals but I found their reminiscing about how they "miss religion" to be fascinating.

@OSacrumCorIesu @charliebelllive Now my head as started wondering what football player chants would look like for NT figures. Peter: “He’s back, he’s bold, he walked on waters old, Simon Peter, Simon Peter. Or Judas something to the tune of “hey Jude” - I shouldn’t get too far down this road 🤦🏼♂️
English

@OSacrumCorIesu @charliebelllive True. Although clericalism is not always overt. I remain unconvinced about its liturgical value :) interested to see any history that Charlie can point towards but it seems to me to be a follow on from Roman ceremonial practice for high ranking individuals or victorious soldiers
English

@OSacrumCorIesu @charliebelllive In which case a suitable modern liturgical equivalent might be to parade the cross on a bus through the town centre while the “fans” chant songs about their favourite disciples.
English

@charliebelllive @OSacrumCorIesu Of course anglicans didn’t do much of it for abt 300 years! I’m just not convinced that it does anything liturgically for the congregation other than make the clergy look like minor celebs with an entourage! So instead of being about following a cross it appears to be abt clergy
English

@OSacrumCorIesu @owenmorgan Lemme try and find it!
