It will be funny if Zohran does win the Democratic primary for mayor and you get centrist pundit takes about leftists winning very low turnout primaries and you have to remind them more people vote in NYC mayoral primaries than many American states.

@SamAntar @NewYorkStateAG @NYCFinance 3/3 Besides, the payer doesn’t play a role in this. Because of NYC’s caps on increases, we’re permanently catching up for gains from the 80s/90s. Unless the value of this building dropped all the way down to $345,000 it has no impact on the taxes she pays whatsoever.

@SamAntar @NewYorkStateAG @NYCFinance 2/3 It's a very rough way to assess value (unlike sales or income capitalization). Because there are few comps and expenses are ignored, little assessment changes can have unpredictable results, even if none of it impacts taxes whatsoever.

Hello again, @NewYorkStateAG Letitia James, As mentioned in my earlier post, your financial disclosure indicates that the value of your Brooklyn property increased by approximately 42% from 2021 to 2022. However, the assessed market value for tax purposes decreased by 7.6% during the same period. Could you please clarify this discrepancy? Note to Readers: In NYC, the market value used for property tax purposes differs from the market value for sales, but they generally follow similar trends.

@TweetBenMax A round-trip peak ticket from my town to Grand Central is $30.50, plus parking at the station. For commuter rail riders, I can’t imagine anything other than things reverting to the status quo once people realize how relatively inexpensive the congestion charge is.
