Very nice perf optimization piece by @jaffathecake jakearchibald.com/2019/f1-perf/ - especially for the people who do not work on performance of their sites on everyday basis.

2/2 Everything except design has completely changed. Previous site was well optimized (heavy cache) but still we saved around 500ms on the page load. Let me know in case anyone is interested in our @gatsbyjs + @WordPress case study. Time to refresh the 2013-14 content ;)

1/2 last week me & @tweetFurai have launched @gatsbyjs version of my old company website - lowgravity.pl .Its almost 1:1 copy of WP site built in 2013 with custom posts and few custom features including support for @yoast Backend is still handled by the same Wp install

@getify @davidegreenwald Just my 2cents. People tend to forget that tracking is not only JS and you can still gather plenty of data server side. Especially if you can combine it with data from other sources like cookies.

counter-intuitively, google maps lets you do an <iframe> embed for free, but if you want to embed just a static map image (an <img>), that costs $2.00 / 1000 embeds. my guess is, they give you the iframe for free since it's interactive and they can advertise to users.
