I have many awesome Canadian guests who have become good friends but, in general/on average, my US guests are friendlier, more willing to help with things I’m working on, more honest and generous

Canada has a more comprehensive agreement than any of those countries, a mechanism to negotiate, and some pressure starting to build up in our favour in the U S. A desperation push would be the worst move and 75% of Canadians see that.

So Canada is STILL the ONLY G7 country that hasn’t concluded a deal with the US. France, Germany, Italy (via EU), Japan, and the UK have all secured agreements or frameworks with the Trump administration to address or reduce the broad “reciprocal” tariffs (and related Section 232/301 measures) imposed starting in 2025. And here the CBC is misleading Canadians on Canada-US trade. The public deserves accuracy, not false narratives that distract. “In 2024, Canadian exports to the US amounted to $419 billion USD, our next biggest market was China at $21 billion USD. Living in Canada and being Canadian is like being an employee of an old box store that hasn’t turned a profit in a decade, is being propped up by loans and funny accounting and where half the employees know the entire shit show is about to be bought up, broken up and liquidated a piece at a time by a profitable tech company 1000 times their size all while the other half are loafing around the coffee room dreaming about the beach they think they’ll be laying on in five years time when they cash in their retirement plan as the CEO of the bankrupt ship raids the petty cash box on his way out the door to somewhere without an extradition treaty.
