@UniverseIce The S Pen tip looks thinner, is that a sign it can be rotated to fit the rounder frame ensuring it always fits perfectly regardless of orientation? 🤔

@SPYGO19726 It was a teaser for their tv event at CES, not for the galaxy S26 unpacked, and the event was two days ago.

@UniverseIce The first Galaxy Fold had a main screen with a resolution of 2152x1536, which has a screen aspect ratio of ~4.2:3. So technically they do it first but it folds the other way.

According to a report from ETNews, Samsung is preparing a new Wide Fold, and its design direction closely mirrors the upcoming iPhone Fold with an extremely high level of precision. There is an important premise that many people deliberately ignore. Samsung is not reacting after Apple’s product launch. It already knows Apple’s core foldable design in advance. That is exactly why Samsung has chosen to move earlier. On the surface, the Wide Fold may arrive before the iPhone Fold, but that does not mean it represents Samsung’s own evolutionary path for foldables. Instead, it looks more like a preemptive move based on a known answer. Samsung understands that once Apple officially enters the foldable market, the narrative power will quickly shift toward Apple, and allowing that moment to arrive uncontested would be strategically dangerous.
From a more realistic perspective, the true purpose of the Wide Fold is not to lead, but to dilute Apple’s first definition advantage. Its role is to ensure that when the iPhone Fold is finally unveiled, the market does not perceive its form factor as something entirely new or newly defined by Apple. This also explains why the Wide Fold does not feel like a natural extension of the Galaxy Fold lineage, but rather a deliberate alignment with Apple’s direction. For Samsung Electronics, this is a highly rational defensive strategy, but the cost is equally clear. Each time Samsung chooses to precisely follow Apple’s design trajectory, the question becomes sharper. In the foldable category, does Samsung still retain a long term vision of its own, or is it gradually surrendering the initiative that once defined its leadership?
