Here's some more progress on this project. S&Box has been really fun to work in. Would love to turn this into an actual game at some point #gamedev #sbox
Oz@ozmant

Doing some experiments in @s8box So much easier to do sub-stepped physics than Unreal. This engine has so much potential #gamedev

I wonder, what is the reach from all these? Given the events of the past year, Europe should be more worried about an incompetent and morally corrupt government and their war buddy, that have actively made threats, than from a nation that hasn't.

Yesterday’s launch of an Iranian intermediate-range ballistic missile on Diego Garcia means that Iran likely has IRBMs with a minimum range of 4000 km. It means that the only 3 European countries out of range of Iranian ballistic missiles are Iceland, Ireland and Portugal

I’m a software engineering student in Gaza and for the last month I have been working on a project very close to My heart. I was lucky enough to obtain a laptop thanks to my kind followers, and I am trying to build an online platform which aims to give children in Gaza aged 5 to 17 access to a range of educational materials. I plan to cover the entire Palestinian curriculum, to afford Palestinian children their right to learn. A right all children deserve. I thank everyone for their support over these past months, I hope to give something to my community, thanks to you 🙏

Maybe European Union should look at how Chinese Government plans long term? How corruption is snuffed out? Maybe European Union should look at how difficult they've made it for somebody to do a business? How all the little meaningless things like MOSS just hurt small businesses? How big companies can avoid taxation while small businesses get squeezed? Maybe European Union should look at how much they tax their citizens? How housing and healthcare keeps going downhill and educations will probably be next? Maybe European Union should think about different taxation models, that only give tax breaks to companies that actually share their profits in a fair way with their employees instead of concentrating them on the executives? No, you're right. The problem is that the workers need to work more.

NEW: 🇩🇪🇨🇳 German Chancellor Merz says Germans need to work more in order to match China: “We are simply no longer productive enough. Each individual may say, “I already do quite a lot.” And that may be true. But when you return from China, ladies and gentlemen, you see things more clearly. With work-life balance and a four-day week, long-term prosperity in our country cannot be maintained. We will simply have to do a bit more.”

I love MMOs, I'd love to develop one. The amount of content a modern MMO needs to huge. I grew up playing Runescale and WoW, both blew my mind when released. The problem with a AAA approach is content content content. Which i often feel is why they fall flat. The core needs polish and refinement before focusing on systems no one really cares about. Runescape is a perfect example of keeping it simple, but execution is brilliant. I'd love to take that approach into a '3d' MMO, I know a few have tried but fell flat imo. How much shit can you remove and keep the gameplay brilliant and engaging.

@Jakob_Wahlberg I guess the problem stems from deciding what is the "best outcome". Best outcome for whom? The individual, the society, the country?

Can we say democracy is the best form of government yet? It’s quite a new phenomenon and haven’t been around for so long? 🤔

@BraveSirRobin42 @pati_marins64 Refueling nuclear submarines can take 1/2 years I heard. This could fill a good gap between nuclear and diesel. But im not an expert

@pati_marins64 There’s a debate to be had for sure. Yet, you’re promoting this as though it is some sort of revolutionary new battlefield changing tech. 🤷‍♂️ Subs are very vulnerable on the surface. Having to surface 5x more than Astute is a distinct weakness.

Japan has just rendered an entire generation of conventional submarines obsolete, and the world hasn’t fully realized it yet. With the Taigei class and its lithium-ion batteries, Tokyo already set a new benchmark: up to three weeks submerged without ever raising a snorkel. That, however, was merely the opening act. Today, Toyota and Panasonic are leading the global race in solid-state batteries, with prototypes arriving in 2027–2028, mass production after 2030, and Japan’s next submarine class will be the first to use them, either in pure battery form or as a hybrid with a small reactor for onboard recharging. This hybrid would be similar to what the Chineses are developing. The leap is staggering. A 4,000 ton conventional submarine will patrol for 40 to 60 days without surfacing, sprint well above 20 knots for hours on end, and do it all more quietly than many nuclear subs, thanks to being significantly lighter and running solely on battery power. Solid-state cells weigh roughly one-third as much, generate 40 % less heat, and eliminate half the cooling systems. The result is a faster, stealthier hull that can travel thousands of kilometers without ever breaking the surface. Those hundreds of saved tons translate directly into more powerful electric motors, extra torpedoes and missiles, cutting-edge sensors, or greater crew comfort. The same hull now carries twice the energy or twice the weapons. It means that by 2035–2040, Japan will field conventional submarines with the endurance and sprint performance of today’s 8,000-ton nuclear boats, at one-third the cost and without the political baggage of uranium.

@mikegarndesign They could say 0% for the first 100k-500k, would be huge for the devs and a rounding error for Valve.

Let me know in the comments: Should you use Unity Unreal.... or... your own custom engine? Engine not listed? Let me know in the comments! Btw, Edmund McMillen and I chatted (youtu.be/SrrXRHcvHak) about why he's using his a... semi-custom engine. Built with a tool that is basically 20 years old. He opens up his latest game Mewgenics and he shows us "under the hood" how it's made. This is super insightful, and will help you on your game dev journey.

120Hz is the sweet spot for phones. Battery life matters. 120Hz OLED is more responsive than a 165Hz-240Hz LCD TN/VA gaming monitor. Phone screens are tiny. Sideways movement judder (follow target with eyes) is not a big problem. 240Hz is great for a big 32" PC screen (and TVs).
Tech Home @TechHome100

The entire iPhone 17 Series now features 120Hz panels, just like most Android Flagships. Some brands are planning to adopt 144Hz panels in their top-tier Flagships next year and some performance-oriented machines have started evaluating 165Hz panels. All aiming to unlock the full potential of 2nm chips and maintain their lead over Apple. 🍭🍎 #Android #Apple

(Significantly!) faster alternative to git. Free for anyone with under $500K ARR (most of you). Responsive dev. A friendly and curious mind made this. He wanted something better that didn't exist, so he made it exist. Very good software. Recommend!
