@JosephAguiyi @RealCharlesOgbu So flyovers attract investors. Nawa oooo. It's alright, so how many FDI has come into Ebonyi since the days of Umahi till now. Or perhaps, how local investors have come to Ebonyi. I need an answer please

@RealCharlesOgbu The attack on Engr. David Umahi is unfair. His 23 flyovers weren’t vanity projects but strategic investments that opened up Ebonyi, attracted investors & modernized the state. Umahi turned Ebonyi from obscurity to progress — with better roads, security & a functional airport.

For 8 solid years, this man - Engineer David Nweze Umahi, - presided over the affairs of Ebonyi, the poorest state in the southeast and one of the poorest in the entire country. And his biggest achievement is not reducing poverty rate in the state neither is it investment in human capital development. Umahi’s biggest achievement is building a capital-intensive project like flyover in almost every corner, totally 23 flyovers, most of which have never been plied by any vehicle. He knew that flyover is a traffic-alleviation project, not a city beautification project but because more often than not, politicians ignore the needs of the people to embark on white elephant projects that would give them the avenue to achieve their own selfish desire, he went on a flyover building spree. For context, Anambra, one of the most densely populated states in Nigeria with its over 6 million population, has not more than 10 flyovers. Enugwu with approximately 5 million population has not more than 4 flyovers. Imo with over 6 million people has between 2-3 while Abia has only 1 for its over 4 million people. But Ebonyi with just 3 million people and the least traffic congestion problem has a whopping 23 flyover, courtesy of Umahi. His flyover Professor-Of-Practice pedigree was such that in his VILLAGE of Uburu, he built TWO FLYOVER with one opposite the gate to his residence where you will see not less than 30 houses in the premises with two of the buildings boasting of hanging swimming pools and of course, all his kids abroad. He even built an Airport which is now being used for church service. If many of us - Igbo people - would calm down and just for a moment, refocus our focus on the people managing our affairs as Ndigbo, we would all realize that our biggest problem lies with our so called leaders.

@timigjohnson @FinPlanKaluAja1 There is always a shadow. A project of such magnitude that didn't follow a normal bidding process. And no EIA was conducted to ascertain the real cost. Just pumping dollars every Eke market day into the project.

@Nero365 @FinPlanKaluAja1 And that's why the minister was unable to provide the cost per kilometers question. Because if there was a due diligence and a proper EIA conducted, it won't be heard to give an account of per kilometers

@SegunShowunmi It is very sickening to see a whole minister being interviewed in such despicable manner. He was literally insulting his guest. I thought that woman from Edo, Mario or wetin be her name, would come into the matter. She was rather shouting "minister answer the question". Olodos!

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: WHEN BROADCASTERS BECOME THE STORY When television anchors abandon professionalism for provocation, it becomes the duty of the station’s management to call them to order. But when that failure becomes routine, the National Broadcasting Commission must step in. What can be excused from a citizen’s podcast but we can not and must not be tolerated from a licensed national broadcaster. This madness must stop. @ARISEtv and its anchor, @ruffydfire, have crossed too many lines. They can not continue to constitute themselves into self-appointed prosecutors, judges, and enemies of the state under the guise of journalism. There is a difference between questioning power and attacking the very idea of order. The supervising Ministry of Information must not remain a bystander while citizens invited in good faith are subjected to insult, rudeness, partisan aggression, and empty intellectual showmanship. The media must enlighten, not incite. It must inform, not inflame. Let it be clear: freedom of expression is not freedom to abuse. Regulation is not repression it is the defence of sanity and national interest. The time has come to draw the line. Otunba Segun Showunmi The Alternative Movement.

@ruffydfire Umahi answered you wisely, you understand not what you seek. A fool asks foolish questions but the wise laughs & ignores him. Keep asking abt the cost/km jare. You don't need average cost/km because if you do, simple division answers your question. You are after clout than fact

The danger of making crime a norm. Whenever I talk about Nigeria being a crime scene, those who are part of the criminality and their hirelings will quickly start their noise-making, attacking and blackmailing me. But how do you tell people that those whose integrity, character and behaviour are supposed to be exemplary and emulated in society have become the very source of the nation’s decay? How do you tell young Nigerians to be honest and upright when those they are supposed to emulate are the least to be emulated because they are criminals and dishonest? Certificate forgery is a serious criminal offence in all countries of the world. It is one of the most corrupt practices heavily punished. In one of my knowledge-seeking visits to Indonesia early this year, after interacting with several ministers responsible for Health, Villages, SMEs, Planning, and Education, as well as the Vice President and President Joko Widodo on development, I met with the Chairman of the General Elections Commission of Indonesia. I asked him about the educational qualifications required to participate in elections from local government to the state legislature, governorship, and up to the presidential level. He openly stated these qualifications to me. My team and I then asked a simple question: What happens if someone contests for public office with a forged certificate or did not attend the school he claimed he attended? He looked at me, surprised and shocked, and said, “That attracts immediate disqualification and prosecution. It is a criminal offence. He added, “If someone can forge a certificate, how can that person be trusted to lead others?” But in my country Nigeria, though the laws are same as in other countries, that forgery is punished by immediate disqualification, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) makes no effort to scrutinize certificates before the elections, over looks complaints of forgery and when you challenged after the elections, court will dismiss the serious criminal issues as "pre-election matters" without giving this criminal act appropriate punishment. INEC, even after the elections, does not bother to revisit or investigate these serious offences before the next election. The other concerning issue from all these is how criminals and dishonest people scale through all the scrutiny layers -security, parliament and government apparatus set to handle such. Even more disturbing, amounting to double tragedy, is that most of these dishonest people swore to an affidavit before a law court attesting to the authenticity of the documents they presented. We are now preparing for the 2027 general elections. INEC have enough time to investigate past complaints about various forms of forgery and false claims. Our Electoral amendments must include that anyone intending to contest for any public office, whether an incumbent or a new candidate, must submit all academic certificates to the electoral body immediately after party primaries, at least six months before the election. These certificates, alongside details of schools attended, what was studied and years of study, should be made public for verification within 90 days. This process must also apply to appointed officials, Ministers and even aides, because when dishonesty starts from the top, it spreads to every level of governance, just like it’s happening now. We must deal with certificate forgery holistically with the seriousness and level of criminality it deserves. Criminal offences should not be dismissed as a mere procedural matter. We must end the era where forgery and deceit are rewarded with power. True leadership must begin with truth. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Nigeria simply moved on from ATMs to POS operators (aka kids under an umbrella hawking cash). I stand to be corrected but there are no POS folks selling currency in Rwanda, Kenya, Egypt or South Africa, Just in Nigeria. The problem is not that this is happening, but that its accepted. Even the BPE is celebrating 1.2m jobs created via POS, that's not a flex. Boy, there is something in the water in Nigeria that dulls the desire for better things. Why is is so hard to demand the bare basics of life?

@FinPlanKaluAja1 Saying POS is solving the issue of ATM is like saying that because Okada can navigate through hold up, then it’s the best means of transportation whereas the problem is hold up caused by bad road. ATMs are meant to dispense money, POS is for card payment.
