What is a Jesus Maximalist? It's someone who really believes Christ is King. It's someone who wants to see the "kingdoms of this world become the Kingdom of our God and of His Christ." It's someone that is doing all they can to optimize freedom in their life and exit from the demonic world order around us. To maximize Christ and minimize Caesar in your life, is to reject all of Caesars trappings and replace it with Christ's rule. It's rejecting the public school system that teaches Caesars religion. It's rejecting Caesars corrupt fiat money in favor of sound money. It's rejecting Caesars twisted ethics of abortion, transgenderism and elicit sexual immorality. Counterfeit currency creates a counterfeit kingdom. This is why everything feels fake. Fake food, fake genders, fake news, fake education, fake science, fake religions and fake ideologies. It's all built on lies. America divorced its money from truth in 1971 when it completely decoupled from gold, and it has been a downhill spiral ever since. Money is a representation of our time and energy. If the money is built on lies, should we expect anything less than societal degradation? Last night’s 50th birthday and 25th year of ministry celebration touched me on a deep level… I was reminded of the years I spent frustrated, the church not growing and functioning like I had hoped… like I believe the Lord promised me it would… with what seemed like a broken record continually going off in my mind, Satan poking me relentlessly “Quit, just quit, you tried, but now just quit… just end your suffering and give up already.” Thanks to God’s grace and his keeping power, I didn’t. And I’ve entered into a season of divine overflow where everything I ever wanted is coming upon me in an over-the-top, net breaking, boat sinking, super-abundant harvest. For anyone going through it right now, please don’t quit. Quitting is a PERMANENT solution to a TEMPORARY problem. Also, the hilarious comedian they flew in for the party, Caleb Elliot, took the mic and gave CityLight Church what I consider one of the highest compliments we could receive as a church. He took the mic to begin his skit and said, “When I was invited I was trying to figure out whether this was a black church or a white church… and to be honest… I’m still not sure… I have NEVER seen a church like this.” We have over 80 nations represented at CityLight and the church is a kaleidoscope of colors and looks like what I imagine heaven will look like. Do you know how we got that way? It wasn’t by being woke. It wasn’t by looking at the world through a lens of skin color and race, it wasn’t by hiring staff based on their ethnicity so we can appear to be more inclusive (we only hire based on skills and merit) and it wasn’t by incessantly talking about diversity. There are pastors who do this and their churches are still 99% vanilla because it’s offensive, treating different people groups like pets and props to appear more “progressive.” There’s a lot of Christians of ALL races/ethnicities who need deliverance from being skin worshippers. On the other hand, we just opened our arms wide, proclaimed Christ and Him crucified, and determined to fiercely love ALL people, and God has entrusted us with every race, ethnicity and tongue. Hallelujah.

Your average run of the mill pastor says, "Pay taxes, give to Caesar what is Caesars!" He's wrong! But that's not what Jesus meant at all, go deeper. Look I was one of those pastors too, no hate. But as the government gets more corrupt and uses our tax dollars for more evil, that interpretation didn't sit well with me. Jesus wasn't giving us a lesson on taxes, He was teaching us about identity. The Pharisees asked Him if it was "lawful to pay taxes to Caesar." (Matthew 22:17) Jesus immediately calls them hypocrites and asks to see the coin for the tax. Why call them hypocrites for a legitimate question? Because taxation was a warning God gave their ancestors for choosing a human king. (1 Samuel 8) Human kings tax you. This is not good and biblically is a sign of a people who reject God as King. Understand this framework. We know how the story goes, Jesus asks whose image is on the coin, they respond Caesar, then He tells them to "Render to Caesar what is Caesars and to God what is God's." The image matters, because we bear God's image. When asked whether its lawful to pay taxes, Jesus answers with a question, "Who are you? Whose image do you bear?" You bear God's image. So what is the implication when it comes to taxes? Yes, pay them, because you choose to be ruled by men rather than God. Begin to render to God what is God's and Caesar will fade away. Why? Because Christ is King, not Caesar. What was Jesus saying here in a nutshell? MAXIMIZE CHRIST, minimize caesar.

There is a species of ant that approaches the edge of another colony, kills a single worker, and then takes on the dead ant’s scent. For ants, scent is everything. Wearing that scent, the intruder walks in with no resistance. The workers pass by without concern. The intruder moves inward, toward the queen, then It sprays the queen with a different scent that makes the workers turn on her. Then they surround her and kill her. The intruder does not need to fight anyone. The colony does the work itself. Once the queen is gone, the intruder reproduces. The true invader is no longer an intruder. It is the future. This is how ideological takeover works. A destructive foreign ideology takes the scent of familiar ideas and walks in as if it belongs. It speaks the native vocabulary, justice, equality, compassion, rights, progress. It uses these words and quietly changes what they point to. Then it moves inward. It alters how foundations are perceived. Responsibility is made to smell like cruelty, law like oppression, borders like hatred, tradition like danger, history like guilt. At that point, the civilization turns on itself. Its courts, universities, churches, media, and bureaucracies begin treating their own foundations as threats. They believe they are defending the system. They are enforcing what now smells legitimate. They do not see the intruder because it sounds exactly like them. And when the founding principles are finally removed, discredited, dismantled, erased, the foreign ideology does not need to conquer anything. It inherits what is left. The queen is gone. The colony is no longer itself. The most effective conquest is the one that convinces a society that its own foundations are the enemy, and that killing them is an act of virtue.
