@David_Paul_B @cnnbrk Carbon monoxide poisoning from an improperly vented water heater or furnace could do that.

@NPRinskeep Experience is valuable, but don't do things for the sole purpose of gaining experience or saying you have done them. Choose to take opportunities that help you gain experiences you enjoy and want to carry with you for the rest of your life.

I’m back home again in Indiana, about to meet hundreds of high school students. For 41 years, the great Senator Richard Lugar gave a talk to an annual gathering. Since his death, they’ve had me stand in. What advice would you give 16-17 year olds? news.uindy.edu/2024/11/21/48t…

@duckmeyer @NPRinskeep I live in a swing state... yes, polls are done via text these days, but I doubt they're particularly accurate considering the number of texts my friends and I have deleted and attempted to block. They're worse than dinner time calls in the late 80s...

@NPRinskeep wondering if polling science has evolved with technology. I don't know a single person over 50 and under 80 who will answer no-name calls. Younger don't answer any call. Most normal people stay away from online polls. Do polls use text?

@nprscottsimon The first is to knock the irritant loose. The second is to clear it out, and the third is to ensure you got it all. Repeat as necessary.

Seeking the wisdom of the crowd: why do sneezes so often seem to come in threes? Any scientific reason? Or is our family just the Three Sneeze Simons?

@Nittanylyon @JM_EDHD @NPRinskeep Are you attempting to use ADHD as an insult? I'm inclined to be concerned for Penn State's curriculum and reputation, if that's the case.

NPR is truly reprehensible. After a documented, continuing genocide in Gaza they run a 5 min story this morning about Israeli's forced to flee their homes after Oct 7. They then interviewed a Zionist who said "They (Gazans) want to kill us all." Defend that one @NPRinskeep

@nprscottsimon @lyft Also, if you've not yet seen Idiocracy, it's worth a bit of time. I'm not certain if it's a horror movie, documentary, or the comedy it was billed to be, but I'm fairly certain it's prophetic.

@nprscottsimon @lyft This is the reason I've spent time learning how to make foods from scratch, all the way down to fermenting flour and water to make sourdough bread without commercial yeast. I wish history classes spent time teaching skills upon which the electronic conveniences are based.

Thought while waiting for @lyft. But could apply across life. How much of our lives do we now spend looking at screens and following directions from bots? To go somewhere, do anything, know what to do, what’s next? How much knowledge, discovery, and direction have we forfeited?

@HarshaVe @kairyssdal There are still people who set their administrative password to "Password1234", write it on a sticky note, and post it on their keyboard... because complexity rules won't allow them to use "password" for their password. I'm at a loss for why they do it, but they still do.

@McJesse I remember 1998 fondly... That was before any of the cluster that came with the brew millennia. Y2K wasn't even mainstream media hysteria yet. You got to party like it's 1999 when you were 13. 9-11 was far from the imagination of 12 year olds. Cell phones were not "smart"...

This really, really bothers me. How can music coaches not know one of the greatest songs of the past century written at the end of the life of one of the greatest vocalists ever recorded? It's like a photographer thinking Ansel Adams posted the grumpy cat pictures. #VoiceBlinds

@cgmaccountant @kairyssdal Because we should not lower the bar and forgive accountability based on position in society. Doing so demeans everyone in that class, and allows the lowest level of professionalism to become standard behavior. Lead by example, yes. Follow blindly, no.

@kairyssdal I get it - this was a slip and unprofessional, but why should Cramer lose his job over it (or anyone else for that matter) when the President routinely name calls on Twitter and in speeches? It’s a double standard.
