@DudespostingWs Pretty sure this is mount fuego in Guatemala and it erupts at least every half an hour on average (sometimes even more regularly) so the chances of catching this aren't as slim as it seems

True - nobody ever goes to Germany and Germany almost never appears on our TV screens. The Nazis, the Berlin Wall and football is all that gets a looks in

We've run out of space in prisons, the courts are barely functioning, and universities and councils are on the verge of bankruptcy. And we're planning... cuts? I think we need to level that we have to put taxes up to european levels or radically curtail pensions and care.
Institute for Fiscal Studies@TheIFS

Current spending plans imply real-terms cuts to the day-to-day budgets of ‘unprotected’ public service departments like local government, further education, HMRC, courts and prisons of more than 3% per year. This will pose major challenges for the affected services. [5/14]

@MetalPirateAhoy @MartinSLewis Yeah that would probably be my favourite too given they are also encouraging migration too. Still, the freezing winters aren't so appealing. Would prefer the UK to be fixed so people don't have to leave

@paddehs @MartinSLewis Canada would be my choice, been there before, lovely people and not as mental as their southern cousins. Or if I'd had money 20 years ago, NZ.

@MetalPirateAhoy @MartinSLewis Might have noticed we left the EU so it's a bit harder to get out now. Americans are about to elect Trump again and Aussies aren't far off a water shortage due to climate change. Owe it to kids to try and fix the mess we've created on this island

@MartinSLewis A broken, ruined country. If I was 20 years younger I'd get the hell out. Expect to see many, many kids do just that.

@paddehs @JamesHarrisNow If the children are born in the UK and has one British parent then they won't need a visa to pay for NHS surcharge.

We’ve been working to reduce inflation and support you with the cost of living. And we're delivering👇 ✅Inflation halved to 4.6% ✅Biggest package of tax cuts since the 1980's ✅Biggest ever increase to the National Living Wage, worth over £1,800 a year for a full-time worker

@MoniqueGadella @OliviaUtley I agree they are more happy! Still a lot of research needed on the productive front. However, the point here is that our tax system discourages people from accepting pay rises and results in lower tax being received by HMT. It shouldn't work like that

It’s astonishing that if you’re <30, went to uni, have 2 kids and are earning £50k per year, getting a 10% pay rise will only leave you £34 a month better off. No wonder there’s a generation of “quiet quitters” — why on earth would ppl in that position push themselves at work?

@RussianGymnast @OliviaUtley Most people don't suggest cutting tax but just rearranging it so that people earning millions actually pay at least an equal rate to those at the lower end so that everyone is encouraged to at least accept pay rises rather than actively avoid them

I suspect I already know the answer but, out of interest, WHY does the government want to reduce legal immigration by 300k? Have they said what they hope to gain from it?

@Believe372 @MartinSLewis @itvMLshow Exactly. They easily ran a check and told Martin exactly how many people had overpaid when Martin requested it so I'm sure they have the ability to refund it very easily. Instead they don't even bother to notify anyone when it's happened. Disgusting behaviour.

If you know someone who's graduated or left uni anytime in the last ten or fifteen years, pls suggest they watch @itvMLshow tonight 8pm. One of my big 3 topics will be explaining step by step how millions have overpaid student loans and can get £100s back easily and at speed.

@StevenEdginton So you think it 'positive' that only 1 in 4 people can afford to marry the person they love now if that person was not born in the UK?
