Churchill Downs deserves a near-perfect score for the show they put on this weekend. We got fair, consistent turf and dirt surfaces and most importantly, they were SAFE. Say what you want about the vet scratches, but I’ll go out on a limb: for the most part, the vets got it right. No system is perfect. They continue to invest in and upgrade the facility every year, and it shows. Mike Ziegler treats horsemen and clients the right way 💯. Credit to Ben Huffman and Dan Bork for putting together tremendous race cards. We saw some brilliant performances. Saw clips of the @NBCSports coverage, it was very engaging. At the event, even the music between races was dialed in (love 300 Violin Orchestra playing over the announcing of the horses for Oaks/Derby). Top to bottom, a terrific 2 days and a great stage to showcase our sport. A win for racing! 📸 @ChurchillDowns

I don't think horse racing Twitter has ever been more positive than it's been the last hour or so. Folks are lifting up the sharpies who had Golden Tempo, everyone's celebrating Cherie DeVaux and her team...it's pretty wonderful. We should act like this more. We really should.

Racehorses are truly national heroes in Japan. This is a tribute to Gentildonna. The Japanese filly Triple Crown winner passed away three days ago. Today, fans brought flowers, wrote their names in guest books and prayed at a memorial set up for her at Tokyo Racecourse.

Update Regarding She’s Quality: She’s Quality (IRE) was eased by jockey Colin Keane out of an abundance of caution during the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) and was immediately attended to by multiple members of the Breeders’ Cup Veterinary Team. After walking onto the equine ambulance and undergoing a thorough examination at the Southern California Equine Foundation (SCEF) hospital, she is back at her barn and will continue to be closely monitored.

Almost speechless. 😂 Fierceness had a historic and epic performance winning the G1 Pacific Classic @DelMarRacing Watching this race as a fan in Saratoga with family and friends is why I fell in love with this game and why I still love this game!!!!! This is why I decided to bring him back as a 4YO. It was the fan in me that made me want to bring him back. Amazing job by my friend Todd Pletcher. Incredible job by Hall of Famer Johnny Velazquez, staying on Fierceness as he veered toward the rail at the start and kept his composure throughout. And a legendary performance by Fierceness. For once and for all, does this put an end to the “Fierceness can only win if he gets his own way” nonsense??? 😂 😂 🤣 LFG!!!!! ♥️🙏💪

@NateMetz Fierceness isn’t a monster. Let’s back off of that train shall we? Where was he the last race? A monster, really?

The Journalism hype train needs to come to a halt. He’s a great horse but 2/5 against a monster like Fierceness is ridiculous, who overcame almost falling over in the opening lengths to get the lead and easily turn away the best California has to offer.
