This week we announced @nocturne_xyz was winding down. It’s disappointing—we felt it showed great promise for privacy, and we know many shared this sentiment. I went into this endeavor with the understanding that real privacy adoption would require people to not have to make sacrifices or change behavior to get it (it should be as easy opt-in as Venmo private pay), but the reality is that, significant infra hurdles have to first be overcome here. Until then, to have their privacy, the payer either suffers hundreds in fees (for the computation—ZK is quite expensive), or must bridge and experience fragmented liquidity + anonymity set. If you wonder why the "infra must come before apps" meme continues to persist in crypto, it’s for reasons like this. That being said, there are emerging areas today where crypto infra can be an enabler for hit consumer apps, not the bottleneck; a detail, not the feature. Given the sheer size of the industries, social, gaming, and entertainment apps are the biggest targets, and for good reason—they're what people use everyday. When I think of why we don’t have mainstream crypto app in these categories, I believe it’s because approaches have all been a flavor of simply, "___ but onchain" (i.e, that’s the only reason for the app) that is usually a worse UX, or a flavor of "popular web2 brand cashing in on crypto hype" (think Starbucks x Polygon loyal rewards) that is short-lived. The apps that will win will be the ones where crypto is used to offer people a better experience than they would have had without it. A team I believe that is best positioned to use crypto to enable this is @Azuki, so much so that I’ve chosen to join them to help shape their vision. If you don’t know, Azuki has entered the anime production and distribution space, and have launched an anime mini-series (first episode is already almost at 1M views!), and it really is just the starting form. Alongside @animecoin, the larger vision is to change the way anime fans are able to interact with and experience their favorite shows. Even if you’re not a fan of anime, adoption like this really does work to push web3 forward. (I’m excited to build this vision with @2pmflow @jojochuu @hoshiboyzen @locationtba @heyskylark @0xTraderJo @metag33 @0xseraph @elaineazuki14 and more!) In reflecting on the past, and planning for the future, there are couple things I can’t help but mention: • Working with @sebastienladuca and @luketchang has been an experience of a lifetime. Everyone familiar with either of them knows how talented they are, and I can validate that sentiment firsthand • A long-awaited thank you note, to Vitalik, the whole team at Bain (one of the best leads you could ask for), our connects at Polychain, Hack, Robot, Bankless, and all of our angels—your inputs and support have been invaluable. Lastly, thank you to everyone who supported Nocturne’s mission in its lifetime.

"but can I import my Figma designs?" is literally the most common question I get. finally, yes. copy paste from their canvas to ours, but get the @MagicPathAI layer. prototypes, interactive states, web preview—all for free.
Pietro Schirano@skirano

Introducing Figma Connect. The best way to turn your Figma designs into code. No MCP hell. No plugins. Just copy and paste your designs into MagicPath and turn them into interactive prototypes without compromising your craft. Every pixel. Every detail. Every asset. Preserved.

2025 was a bit of a different year. I left crypto after starting 2 companies over the last 4 years and joined Replit. A lot of folks asked why I joined Replit and I realized I never posted about the move. Thought I’d give a short reflection on why I joined/what I’m excited about in the new year. Creating a new market: The market for non-developers presents a larger/emergent opportunity, but requires more upfront investment. Most customers do not start with the same technical base as IDE users, therefore the goal is to create an abstracted e2e experience from build through deploy time. It requires building an agent with a huge sandbox of primitives (storage, auth, AI, etc) as well as the infrastructure for provisioning resources and running applications. The combination of new market creation and large technical investment simply means the growth/trajectory will look different in the long run. Company character: While most gravitate towards the shiny new company, I strongly believe a company’s greatest “moat” is its strength/character developed up over time. Starting a company is inherently a character-building exercise and the only thing that cannot be replicated is a company’s story and character, especially through times of hardship. Replit has been trying to enable new developers for the last 10 years and survived difficult periods prior. Replit earned its position today and you can bet the team will fight to retain and grow its lead given what it took to get here. Everything is code: Agree or not, coding agents are the most important category in AI today. While all of us use AI to write code, we are only starting to see the implications go much further. Design, slides, animations, games, and so many more things all come down to code at the end of the day, we're just not used to thinking about it that way. Building websites and apps is just the start. All that it to say, despite some personal shifts, 2025 turned out to be a good year and I’m looking forward for 2026!

I’m thrilled to announce that I’m joining @PlasmaFDN as Senior Product Designer. I joined Plasma because the team prioritises design, the end user, and the craft of building experiences that matter. That commitment is rare and it sets the standard. I fell in love with crypto through onchain creativity: no-loss lotteries, prediction markets, bonding curves, flash loans, CDPs, money streaming, decentralised governance. Each felt like a glimpse of finance’s future. These mechanisms are powerful but often abstract. Products tend to serve either crypto-natives or everyday consumers. The real opportunity lies in bridging the two to make advanced tech intuitive while preserving its depth. Stablecoins embody that idea. They distill DeFi’s innovation into something people can actually use: sending, saving, earning, and spending with confidence. They’re the foundation for new financial behaviours at a global scale. Bringing stablecoins to billions won’t be simple. But with Plasma, I found a team not just talented, but truly committed to building at the highest level. The more time I’ve spent with them, the stronger that conviction has grown. Plasma is redefining how money moves. I’m grateful to be part of making that real. Trillions.🕊

The Azuki team is always pushing to move faster with AI. One recent upgrade: our marketing team can now ship changes to Azuki.com with minimal eng support using OpenAI codex. They can update copy, swap images, etc... all with AI. The flow: → Marketing prompts codex → Codex edits the code → Creates PR → A preview site autodeploys for marketing to validate changes → Eng reviews + merges What used to require engineering context-switching is now abstracted away and we get shit done much faster. Sharing this so that we can all move 10x faster in web3. More soon as we go deeper on AI across the team.

Use your Calendar like a journal. Log your upper body workout, that museum date, the Sunday morning errands. Years from now, when you scroll back to any given day, you’ll remember the little moments that made life feel full.
