My son Jonathan died in my arms one year ago, he was 38 years old and never got a chance at a normal life but we did our best to make his life as normal as possible. He never felt love but he was always loved and protected. I always wondered what he would have said if he could speak. He wasn't religious but God always knew him. He never would have many things but we gave him everything. Don't know what his favorite song was but he responded to Seminole wind and I know that if we needed a good cry we can play it. He never understood when people died but if you looked closely you would have noticed his whole demeanor changed as people left his life. He was happiest when the pantry and fridge were full of his favorites. We did our best to make his life as normal as possible and even built a house that was as ADA compliant as possible.
He wasn't my son by birth but I'd like to think that I was his father and I hope that I did a good job.
I miss him everyday.
