@hey_mindi We were quoted $850 for a tooth cleaning. I called around to 5-6 reputable vets to get an idea of pricing w/a blood test. They ranged from $350-$1200… an $850 range for the same service from 4-5 star rated vets in the same general area. Make it make sense….

There is something catastrophically wrong with Americas vet business. I sat for 3 hours yesterday with our 11 year old dog. Test after test. I kept signing financial agreement papers, desperate to find an answer to what’s wrong. Every step of the way, a thorough explanation of the need to do xyz. Always with the sentence at the end “that runs $____” Sign this. By the end of the 3 hours, my choices were pay $5000 to admit her for the rest of the afternoon or put her down. I couldn’t think straight. I walked in with her hours prior thinking she just had some little bug that would be simple to resolve. I can’t stop thinking about how many people would have to choose option 2, because $5000 out of left field isn’t possible to pay. I also can’t believe that I was forced to sit and watch a 14 min vaccine commercial reel on repeat for 3 hours while I contemplated our devastating circumstances. This can’t be the norm. If you have a prayer, I humbly ask if you’d lift our family up this Easter Sunday.

@FitnessFarmDC @wittmer0313 @drantbradley Intern during HS? I understand the importance of doing it in college but have been seeing more people talk about doing it in HS and didn’t think it was really a possibility for those interested in careers outside of STEM. THANK YOU for the advice and expertise. Much appreciated.

@papavanwinkle @wittmer0313 @drantbradley That's good. I highly recommend encouraging your kid to intern during the summers if possible. Sometimes corporations provide ways to help with tuition or they may provide excellent guidance if the have a good relationship with academia

DEI cuts terminated programs getting disadvantaged Black & Hispanic boys into trades and college. Thousands of them. The irony? Guess who also complains about these same boys? Clemson's Men of Color program was among those lost. 2,000 attended in 2024 alone. It no longer exists.

@libertarian1022 @mrs_mwp @lady_valor_07 It’s more a factor of people being corny and not knowing how to relate; but trying to be accepting in a way they think would make you comfortable. If they had Indian or Asian members and a visitor of that ethnicity came would they rather have the old white lady say “Hello”?

I think it’s awesome when there are churches who are accepting of us “alternative lifestyle” (🥴 I hate that term so much) Christians, as long as they are actually following biblical theology and still respecting it as a place of worship. I will say though that is a better option than what I’ve experienced for the most part. It’s so awkward when Christians make it a point of showing other Christians that they are even accepting of us “degenerates”. All so they can have a one up on that virtue signaling. It’s like why bring it up at all? Take this post for example, it is such a textbook example of showing solidarity in not treating anyone differently based on how they look while pointing out specifically….how they….look. Like what? How about just treat me the same as you would anybody else. The worst and cringiest is when I go to a church I’ve never been to before (90% of Southern Baptist churches I’ve attended) and to make me feel “accepted” they will single me out, and send the church biker, who then struts up to me, taps me on the shoulder aggressively and when I look at him he’s like “hey, sick tatts, bro”….. 😆 I’m like alright… you’re just going to have to chill out a little, my man. I’m just here to worship like everyone else and this makes me more uncomfortable than if everyone was just secretly judging me while staring at me when I’m not looking… that’s so much less anxiety inducing.

I saw a guy saying, “This woman should never be allowed in a church.” Personally, I think she should be welcomed. What do you think, would she be welcome in your church?

@FitnessFarmDC @wittmer0313 @drantbradley This is our 1st - the experience has been eye opening. Seeing kids with 8-9 APs, who never had a “B” and scored 33/1460 from a quality HS & w/all the other “stuff”, getting turned away from their flagship state schools is insane. We’re already prepping our 2nd for a diff approach

@papavanwinkle @wittmer0313 @drantbradley Big universities need international students to pay full tuition. What's crazy is sometimes international students get full scholarships in doctoral or master's programs, which is unwise. Unless the student discovered or invented something, they should pay full tuition if chinese

@FitnessFarmDC @wittmer0313 @drantbradley She’s going to a great school that gave her over $30K in merit. Clemson just doesn’t give it. Clemson, UGA, and other schools are feasting on OOS applicants who can pay the full bill and want the “southern” experience. It’s a shame because as a NC resident, UNC is too.

@papavanwinkle @USMCLiberal @USA_Polling I concur. I’ve even voted libertarian but I don’t think that’s the “answer” for me per se. I’m pro as little federal government as possible and leaving the bulk of the day to day to the states. I trust my local government to speak for me much more than 2 on the national level.

@papavanwinkle @drantbradley Those programs help the economy tremendously in the long run. The trainees gain job skills and employment. Some even open their own business and hire others. In the end, they pay taxes instead of getting welfare and usually stay out of jail

@wittmer0313 @FitnessFarmDC @drantbradley My daughter got into Clemson, one of her dream schools. 4.6 GPA at a top 15 HS in NC and with high test scores. We visited and fell in love. She’s going elsewhere in the Fall because it’s $60K. She got $5K in merit and it’s beyond unaffordable for a deserving student.

TRENDING: The talent gap between the Power Four schools and group of five schools is widening at a faster rate than ever before, per an article from CBS Sports. The article cites only 29.5% of 1st/2nd team all conference players from the G5 remain with the team they played with last season. 73 of the 81 (90%) players who left are now playing in the Power Four. 75% of all conference players at the power five level will return to their previous team. This means that an all conference player in the group of five is 2.5x more likely to transfer than an all conference player at the P5 level. Most power four rosters cost at a minimum 14-16 mil, however as we know many are upwards of 30-40 million. For comparison, the American Conference (the wealthiest of the G5) set a requirement in 2025 that every member school must contribute at least $10 million over the next three seasons. That comes out to only a few million a year, very likely 1/10th the cost of most highly competitive CFB rosters. Even at the power four level, a gap is starting to emerge between the SEC/B10 and ACC/B12. Last season, only one first team all conference player in the power four transferred (AJ Haulcey moving from Houston to LSU). This season, four players transferred, all from ACC/B12 schools. The ACC/B12 have a 56.8% retention rate between first and second team players, whereas the SEC/B10 have a 97.4% retention rate. Their only loss was Damon Wilson transferring from Mizzou to Miami. An interesting trend to follow nonetheless. Have to wonder at some point if coaches start sneakily trying to get players to MISS their all conference teams. What do you think?

@DanFriedman81 It changed under Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill”, whether I agree with the bill or not, it limits parents from borrowing more than like $65K in Parent Plus Loans. That’s a big win for parents even if they don’t like it. Those who need more should encourage less expensive schools.

A lot of people are dunking on this, and it’s true, she should have paid the $60 per month for 20 years and let the forgiveness kick in. But what they’re missing is that she was loaned $65k for a terminal master’s in historic preservation. That should never have happened. Tuition has skyrocketed because the ability of students to pay it has completely decoupled from how much money they or their families can afford. Colleges charge infinity dollars because students have access to infinity student loans. In many cases students hoping a credential will lead to a better life get duped into indenturing themselves permanently to get worthless terminal master’s degrees. If the loans didn’t exist, then the master’s programs wouldn’t exist, and if the master’s programs didn’t exist then employers wouldn’t be looking for job applicants with master’s degrees which don’t even connote any real skills. Burn this whole rotten system down.

@jtizzle290 @USMCLiberal @USA_Polling Same. In general, I’m about less government and all both parties want is more. The simple solution is more parties but the establishment will NEVER let that happen. We need a true 3rd party candidate who can win, or a mixed ticket of moderates from both parties
