@glbryson Question is: can we tease out the benefit (reduced MI) from the harm (increased stroke/overall mortality)? Clear that long acting metoprolol at fairly high doses is harmful. Unclear if dose titration, prompt rx of hypotension, different BBs and patient selection might mitigate.

Beta-blockers. Once an essential part of anesthesia practice, now a very mixed bag of benefits and harms. An excellent thread and umbrella review.
