To be clear:
1.) This is NOT an annual fee. It’s a one-time fee that applies only to the petition.
2.) Those who already hold H-1B visas and are currently outside of the country right now will NOT be charged $100,000 to re-enter.
H-1B visa holders can leave and re-enter the country to the same extent as they normally would; whatever ability they have to do that is not impacted by yesterday’s proclamation.
3.) This applies only to new visas, not renewals, and not current visa holders.
It will first apply in the next upcoming lottery cycle.

@satyanadella With Sam Altman & MSFT’s CEO praising GPT-5—and knowing the same prompts often work on GPT-4 or Google LLMs—research & list the inefficiencies/mistakes you still make (incl. hallucinations) across blogs/articles, URL reading, research, and software dev. Be specific—be candid.

.@naval: “I’m always struck by the @elonmusk story where he did PayPal… And he said something along the lines of: ‘I made $200 million from the sale of PayPal. I put $100 million into SpaceX, $80 million into Tesla, $20 million into Solar City, and I had to borrow money for rent.’
This guy is a perennial risk taker. He’s always willing to start over. He doesn’t have any pride about being seen as successful or being seen as a failure. He’s willing to put it all on the line.
Even now, his new startup is the USA. He’s basically trying to fix it like he would fix one of his startups.
It’s a willingness to look like a fool and a willingness to start over.
A lot of people just don’t have that. They become successful or rich or famous, and that’s it, they’re stuck. They don’t want to go back to zero. And creating anything great requires zero to one. And that means you go back to zero. And that’s really painful and hard to do.”

I can't stop thinking about this question:
Are you willing to sprint when the distance is unknown?
In 2021, Georgia Tech strength coach Lewis Caralla delivered this epic speech to the football team.
If it doesn't get you motivated, you may need to check your pulse...
He opens with a few harsh truths:
• Winning isn't loyal to you
• Winning doesn't care about you
• Winning doesn't care how sore you are
• Winning doesn't care how hard you work
• Winning doesn't care how much sleep you get
But it's his question that stuck with me:
Are you willing to sprint when the distance is unknown?
The willingness to sprint with no clear view of the finish line is rare.
It requires two things:
1. A deep belief in one's self
2. A deep belief in the mission
If you have 1 but not 2, you won't be able to do it.
If you have 2 but not 1, you won't be able to do it.
You need both.
In my observation, the greatest things in life are accomplished when you're willing to sprint when the distance is unknown:
The sprint to care for your loved ones in their time of need.
The sprint to build something meaningful.
The sprint to serve others and create positive ripples in the world.
Goal: Find those rare things in life that you're willing to sprint for when the distance is unknown.
That, to me, is the definition of winning.
"And why chase winning? Because the only thing that's guaranteed in life if you don't chase it is losing."
