Let's destigmatize wearing of non-surgical masks by the public. With large # of asymptomatic cases, if everyone wears masks we could reduce droplet transmission when we come out of the shut-downs #IWearAMask4U

Ochsner hospital just asked all patient-facing personnel to wear surgical masks at work. Not to protect themselves from infection, but to prevent them from unknowingly infecting patients and colleagues.

I’m hearing from multiple friends at other hospitals that they are being reprimanded for wearing either gloves when carrying specimens or masks in the hospital because it’s bad PR.😡 Is PR > PPE? Was this the mentality before all this too? Please explain yourselves. #COVID19

Covert coronavirus infections could be seeding outbreak ~ 50% of cases caused by asymptomatic cases. Makes a case for masks to prevent infecting others Maybe Asia got is right and the West got it wrong? nature.com/articles/d4158…

<—not an expert. I don’t see a reason why hospitals couldn’t limit spread from asymptomatic carriers of COVID-19 by taking two swabs from large cohort of staff regularly. Run a single test that combined the swabs of 100 staff members. If positive, then run the individual swabs.
