The executives loafing in those new $500 million offices would not board a train or bus departing from Newark Penn Station, 1/10 of a mile from their door. What do they care if the already-insufficient train schedule is not increased for such an event? They would not know a train or bus if one ran over them.

Earlier this month, in Manhattan, there were two train-equipment thefts in one week -- and all while the train was in service.

The incident comes less than 24 hours after a conductor reported his key was taken through the platform-side window while he tried to keep a perpetrator from breaking into the control cab.

Due to an Amtrak signal issue in one of the Hudson River Tunnels, NJ TRANSIT rail service is subject to up to 20-minute delays into and out of Penn Station New York.
