I have never really liked Donald Trump, I always felt he was a narcissistic buffoon. But of late I feel differently. The fuel price is about to jump by R7.60/l, friends and family have had flights cancelled and airfares are through the roof. Now I despise the orange tinged moron.

@CyrilRamaphosa, the man completely unhinged, who somehow turned a basic geography lesson into historical illiteracy. Jan van Riebeeck “used trading routes which had always existed” to sail to South Africa and “plunder.” First off, genius, there were no pre-existing “trading routes” across the open Atlantic and Indian Oceans that magically led European ships around the Cape before the Portuguese even charted it. The Cape sea route was discovered and pioneered by Europeans. Bartolomeu Dias in 1488, then Vasco da Gama in 1497. Before that? Nothing. No ancient African galleys running spice-and-gold express lanes past Table Mountain. The Khoisan locals weren’t exactly building naval dockyards or lighthouses; they were herding cattle and bartering with whoever washed up. Van Riebeeck didn’t “use” some mythical eternal trade highway like it was an existing Uber route. The Dutch East India Company sent him to establish a refreshment station precisely because the route existed only after Europeans mapped and risked their lives sailing it. He wasn’t following some ancient African GPS; he was following orders to stop scurvy from killing half his crew on the way to Indonesia. And “plunder?” The VOC’s initial mandate was trade and resupply, not conquest. Van Riebeeck’s journal entries show he built a fort because the locals kept stealing livestock and attacking when deals went south, hardly the actions of peaceful, pre-existing “trade route” users welcoming their new business partners. You sit in the Union Buildings, presiding over the most spectacular post-colonial self-sabotage in modern history; rolling blackouts, record unemployment, corruption that makes the VOC look like amateurs, and an economy so broken that even the ancient Timbuktu trade routes you love romanticizing are doing better than your ports. You lecture about “plunder” while your government plunders the future of every South African; Black, White, Coloured, Indian through cadre deployment, cadre enrichment, and cadre incompetence. Jan van Riebeeck at least left behind vineyards, architecture, and the foundations of a functioning state. What exactly will history say Cyril Ramaphosa left behind? A bankrupt SOE graveyard and another “ancient route” for emigration, and minority South Africans fleeing your rule by the thousands. So next time you want to rewrite naval history, maybe check a map first. Or better yet, fix the actual routes under your control, like the N3 highway that’s more pothole than road, or the Durban port that’s become a global joke. History didn’t start with plunder. It started with people actually building something. You wouldn’t know anything about that. mybroadband.co.za/news/governmen…

This is an admission of defeat. And confirmation that the US has no exit strategy on Iran confrontation. One also discerns that what has also failed is pulling the world into this war. There is really no need. The US must just withdraw completely! Stop the senseless war!

Kill the Boer is indeed hate speech, because it targets a group of people based on their ethnicity and calls for violence to be inflicted upon them. It doesn't matter what the courts say.

On Saturday, Trump told us the attack on an elementary school in Iran that killed 175 people – mostly children – “was done by Iran.” Now the U.S. military admits it was a U.S. strike. If they are lying about something as obvious as this, what else are they lying about?
