genuine question: why are the arts and gaming communities so fucking touchy about ai? i get that 99% of examples are slop but we’re reaching a point where ai-generated media is indistinguishable for 90% of the world that shouldn’t go un-acknowledged just because you want to hide behind a professional identity ai isn’t going away, it’s getting (a lot) better, so why not try and figure out how to work with it to your advantage? isn’t that what a bunch of hollywood is realising now? doomer: “NO THIS IS NOWHERE CLOSE TO PIXAR GRADE” 8 year old (target audience): “haha that’s awesome” what am i missing?

@patgarner @foolstechdev @TheMG3D Yes. People have burned to death because of it and the industrial revolution and its consequences have been an ultimate disaster for humanity. We were much better off as early hominids who could still digest raw meat and didn't have big enough brains to be too self aware.

It doesn’t matter how “real” it looks it will always be AI slop. There is no good reason why this should be able to exist at all, it will be only be used to spread misinformation or scam people.

As I’ve said a million, billion times, that’s not a proper comparison. Digital tools don’t STEAL from the works of countless artists before them. The argument against GenAI isn’t a rejection of technology, it’s an ethical argument against THEFT! Now, here’s where you’ll claim that AI is no different from one artist being influenced by another - which is idiotic - and the debate will go in circles because the bottom line is, the pro-AI people care way more about their own grift than they do human decency.
