Couldn't agree more - these are roles for the right people with the right skills, who should be valued and respected for what they bring. Part of that is knowing their names and their roles, whenever it's possible to do so, and certainly not calling them a number.

If people are motivated towards the change in a change process, everything else becomes easier. All the time & effort we invest early in that change process, engaging people, listening & co-producing, pays off later in better, more sustainable change. Trying to short-cut engagement means doing change "to" or "for" people & that's usually a bad move. Graphic: @anafabrega11

Recently, I've been writing about & discussing Trojan mice. Having many people across the system with the skills & agency to test out small, well-focussed changes to address complex problems (Trojan mice) nearly always works better than large pilot & roll-out projects (Trojan horses). Q4: My advice to leaders? We should seek to always do change "with" and "by" people, through collaborative relationships & co-production. When we do change "to" & "for" people, it hardly ever works as well. Doing change "for" people (often with very good intentions) is a major reason that change doesn't work.
