ColBERT is brilliant but a lot of what I see written about it overcomplicates it. The core is really quite simple, and so is adding ColBERT scoring using your existing vector database. I wrote up an explanation, with code. (Link in thread)

@softwaredoug Love this line of reasoning, Doug. You are right about this being similar to the early NoSQL days. A million little niches, and then they coalesced. (Tokyo Cabinet, anyone?) And now c* is getting full ACID with SQL, no doubt, soon after. #converged

@rhatr You should have asked me at dinner! Vector Search is CEP-30 and voted into the project some months ago. Targeted for 5.0. Here's the Jira tag: issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CA…
