@rebecca_ryder21 Part of the problem is the hoops suppliers are made to jump through before they get a chance to do business with public sector. That bureaucracy costs a *lot* of money, and the supplier has to recoup that cost.

NHS hospital: I noticed the clock on the wall showed the wrong time. A nurse told me they knew, but they wouldn’t report it because replacing the battery through the NHS would cost £70. A £2 battery... £70. How? Why? That's when I began to dig further. 🧵

Marco Rubio spent all weekend in Munich talking about how much he 'loves' his European parents, but then he can’t even find five minutes to have a coffee with Kaja Kallas? Talk about ghosting the people who actually run the place. Instead, he’s rushing off to Bratislava and Budapest to hang out with the 'Munich No-Shows’. It’s pretty transparent: if you’re a pro-EU leader who stands up for the rule of law, you get the cold shoulder. But if you’re Fico or Orbán—the guys who didn't even bother showing up to the top table—you get a private visit and a 'cooperative' gold star. Rubio is basically saying, 'We don't care if you're sabotaging the Union or silencing your own press, as long as you're "strong with us" (read: loyal to Trump).' The irony of him preaching about 'Western values' while skipping the democrats to go hang with the autocrats is just peak 2026. That quote about them being 'very cooperative'? Rubio knows exactly what that means: they’re 'cooperative' because they’re the only ones willing to play ball with Trump’s transactionalism while they keep the lights on with Putin’s gas. Reporter: "Will you urge Hungary and Slovakia to stop buying Russian energy?" Marco Rubio: "Well, we’ll have those conversations with them. We’ll talk to them about what needs to happen. Yeah, I’m not going to get into what we’re going to say in those meetings, but more than anything else, these are countries that are very strong with us, very cooperative with the United States, work very closely with us, and it was a good opportunity to go see them, and two countries I’ve never been in.
