What went wrong in Surfside? How a 12-story condo collapsed. Join me on the NEW podcast "Collapse: Disaster in Surfside" for the investigation, lives lived and lost, and lessons learned. Could something like this happen again? link.chtbl.com/collapse @miamiherald @TreefortMedia

What a morning. 4 consecutive mornings at the Wooden Bridge trying to get a nice shot of the brent geese flying over at an ideal time and finally got it. To say I'm buzzing would be an understatement.

Monica stops to feel a rock that has been worn down by thousands of metal-rimmed wagon wheels brushing against it. Small metal fragments from the rims embed in the rock and rust over time. These are known as "rust-stained rocks" and are a valuable tool for evaluating the trail's path. Notice how narrow the trail is, with that rock and others on the other side. Through this small gap, 10,000's of pioneers traveled, their wagons bouncing against the rocks.

Yes I am friends with some leftists. No I am not a hateful and rage-filled right winger. I love my fellow countrymen, but I would never die for a word of what they believe in.

Leftist friend got called “fuckin lib” by a foid at a bar last night. Their cultural grip is slipping. It’s cringe and gay to even be associated with anything left of center.

@DrAllyLouks @Dave_Duggins I have seen repeated references to an experiment (unclear whether it's real or not) involving people smelling sweaty shirts worn by people who were having fun vs. people who were scared, and the different smells eliciting differing responses. Is that real or apocryphal?

@Dave_Duggins You’d think so considering how often it’s mentioned! There are some cool studies that provide evidence that we can respond to human “chemosignals” (i.e. certain odours can trigger behavioural responses in us), but that’s separate from the matter of pheromones.

I am once again reminding everyone that despite many decades of research, there is still no strong, replicable evidence that human pheromones exist. We’re just talking about smell (and smell can be extremely powerful!)
doomer@uncledoomer

some of you have never had the experience of meeting and falling in love with someone whose pheromones are so compatible with yours that the two of you are borderline intoxicating to each other, to the point that entire continents and armies couldnt keep you apart, and it shows.

I don't think many of my followers are seeing my posts anymore. 😔 The algorithm doesn't seem to promote photographers like it used to a few years ago.. If you see this tweet, of a Robin dropping from a berry laden branch, please can you let me know in the comments. 🙏🐦♥️

The assassination of Charlie Kirk is likely the most significant Christian event in our lifetime. Hundreds of millions of people are talking about it. For a pastor to not help his congregation process these events biblically (via sermon) is a massive disservice to their flock.

When I hear RFK Jr go on about "mitochondria" and "inflammation" it's so obvious he's under the sway of some highly influential and successful "Wellness influencers" who peddle this same pseudoscientific nonsense day in day out on this site. Not good for a Health Secretary

the paradox of young MAGA men: fetishizes pre-1990s WASP aesthetics bc they associate it with respectability and status, but also wants to pose as working class. loves establishment ivy league looks, but hates the establishment ivy league. ultimately just about a performance.

@roryisconfused @SmoffyobWilt Bingo. Dylan, Waits, and Welch are all artists whose personas are an essential tool of their craft, as opposed to that other guy, where it feels more like the tool of a graft

Do you know what the confusing thing is here: I want to say “well, as opposed to that clip of pseudo wankers, this is the real deal”. But then it isn’t. Tom Waits was raised middle class by teachers, it’s all an invented persona. But it *feels* real, and I can’t quite say why.

AI filmmaking and storytelling is punk rock. It’s hip hop. It’s counterculture. It’s a new type of creativity. It’s a new medium. It’s hated by the mainstream film and art establishment. It resists ideology. It ignores gate keeping. It’s uncomfortable. It’s scary. It’s viral. It’s accessible. It’s refreshing. It’s welcoming. It’s here.
