Destroying the @InternetArchive's @WayBackMachine would be the equivalent of the burning of the Library of Alexandria - one of the worst losses of knowledge in history. Media giants are now threatening to do this. We can't let this happen. Pass it on.

A forgotten piece of Saddam Hussein's 1988 Anfal Campaign also targeted Christian oppo groups that had taken up arms against his regime & many civilians. Beyond denying Chaldeans, Assyrians, & Syriacs their unique identities, there were village depopulations and disappearances.

Late to post, but was quoted in the FT by @charles_clover & colleagues. Targeting doctrine says you must disintegrate the enemy fighting system. Iran has evaded this. A bit speculative on my part but Iran has field telephones+a military fibre optic network ft.com/content/bfa38b…

While the parties and mediators are issuing statements, attacks on Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Iraq are continuing. If Iran’s mosaic defense system fails to centralize, the ceasefire could be at risk in the near term.

The inflammatory use of language like the “destruction of a civilization” even if mere rhetorical tactic is morally wrong, illegal and counterproductive..The Iranian regime’s sole goal is its own survival. The Iranian people are fighting to keep and revive their civilization.

Since the 28 February war, civilians have increasingly been impacted by the conflict in the Kurdistan Region. Last night, Musa Anwar Rasool and his wife, Mujda Asaad Hassan, were killed in an Iranian drone strike while they were asleep.

Grateful for the Iraqi journalists & rights defenders who, like @SaadoonMustafa, are advocating for American journalist @shellykittleson’s release. An Iranian-backed militia captured her. The Iraqi government’s weakness in stopping them is making Iraq less safe for Iraqis, too.

It has been 5 days since journalist @shellykittleson was abducted in Baghdad, Iraq. She is an innocent female journalist and must be released immediately. Her abduction is dishonorable and shameful. Submit tips to @FBI, media requests, updates, advocate: freeshelly.net
