Geen opiniestuk van Anuna De Wever dit. Wel een mening van De Standaard zelf: de luchthaven van Zaventem verdwijnt best. “De economische kost moeten we er maar bij nemen”. Angstaanjagend hoe diep de degrowth-agenda zich genesteld heeft. Je kan er gif op geven dat binnen het jaar weer een publi-reportage van “vreedzame klimaatacties” in dezelfde krant verschijnt.

Als cartoonist kijk ik wel op naar wat helden van het vrije woord/beeld. Maar ik moet zeggen dat de moed en de liefde voor de waarheid van Maarten Boudry in onze contreien nog maar zelden vertoond is. Hoe deze man de moed blijft vertonen terwijl al de rest plooit is zeer bewonderenswaardig.

Je suis complètement d'accord avec Luc Ferry. Le fait que l'on ne mette pas au pied du mur les idées relatives au communisme m'a toujours fasciné. On compare le régime nazi au régime communiste, et en fait, je pense que collectivement, le jour où on associera enfin les idées communistes et marxistes au pire système que l'humanité ait jamais produit en termes de morts, on pourra peut-être commencer à avancer. Les chiffres, parlons-en sérieusement. Nazisme : environ 25 millions de morts. Horreur absolue, condamnée partout, à juste titre. Communisme : environ 100 millions de morts. Le Livre noir du communisme, dirigé par Stéphane Courtois, l'a documenté pays par pays, avec une équipe d'historiens. URSS sous Staline : 20 millions de morts. Goulag, Holodomor, purges, déportations. Chine sous Mao : entre 45 et 65 millions selon les estimations. Le seul Grand Bond en avant (1958-1962), c'est entre 20 et 45 millions de morts par famine organisée. Frank Dikötter parle de millions de personnes battues à mort. Mao en personne, lors d'une réunion à Shanghai en 1959 : "quand il n'y a pas assez de nourriture, des gens meurent de faim. Il vaut mieux laisser mourir la moitié de la population pour que l'autre puisse manger." Cambodge sous Pol Pot : 1,7 million de morts, soit un quart de la population du pays exterminé en 4 ans. Record absolu d'efficacité génocidaire. Corée du Nord, Vietnam, Éthiopie de Mengistu, Cuba, Roumanie de Ceaușescu, Allemagne de l'Est. Partout où l'idéologie a été appliquée, le même résultat : famines, goulags, terreur de masse, dictature. Et pourtant. Pourtant, en 2026, en France, on peut afficher Marx, Lénine, Mao sur un t-shirt et passer pour un type cool. On peut citer Trotski en soirée et passer pour un intellectuel. On peut être député de la République et défendre Cuba ou le Venezuela sans qu'aucun journaliste ne demande des comptes. Imaginez deux secondes l'inverse. Imaginez quelqu'un défendant publiquement le national-socialisme parce que "l'idée de base était bonne mais elle a été mal appliquée." Carrière finie en 30 secondes. Et c'est très bien comme ça. Alors pourquoi le double standard ? Parce qu'on a accepté l'idée que le communisme est une "belle idée mal appliquée." C'est faux. Profondément faux. Le communisme, dans sa logique même, suppose la suppression de la propriété privée, donc la coercition, donc la police politique, donc le camp, donc la fosse commune. Hayek l'avait expliqué dès 1944 dans La Route de la servitude : la planification centralisée mène mécaniquement au totalitarisme. Mises l'avait démontré encore avant : sans prix, pas de calcul économique possible, donc pénurie, donc rationnement, donc terreur. Ce ne sont pas des dérives. C'est le programme. Tant que la France considérera qu'on peut être communiste comme on est socialiste ou écologiste, qu'on peut citer Marx en cours d'éco sans citer ses 100 millions de morts, qu'on peut faire défiler le drapeau rouge dans les manifs sans susciter le même rejet que le drapeau noir à croix gammée, on n'aura pas fait le travail historique. Ferry a raison. Il faut le dire. Et le redire. Le pire système politique de l'histoire de l'humanité s'appelle le communisme. Pas par accident. Par construction.

Vlaamse ambtenaren-apparaat afbouwen is een goed voornemen van N-VA, maar zal er nooit komen zonder stap één: drastische inkrimping van wat de overheid doet. We hebben een veel drastischer ingreep nodig. Er moet een plan koken waarbij we reductie van 25% tot 35% voorzien op alle ambtenaren binnen de 2 a 3 jaar. Dit loopt fout af. Geen enkele overheid kan zo losjes en on verantwoordelijk omspringen met zijn budgetten. Hoogste belastingen en hoogste uitgaven.. Griekenland lonkt. En ik vrees dat we die realiteit zullen moeten slikken. Het is ronduit angstaanjagend hoe we blijven doordoen alsof er geen probleem is.

Spain once had the fastest growing solar sector in Europe. A 2007 subsidy law guaranteed huge fixed payments for solar electricity, and investors poured in. Then the economics collapsed, and the government couldn't afford the scheme. Between 2010 and 2012, Spain retroactively cut the subsidies it had already promised. Thousands of solar operators went bankrupt, with more than 62,000 investors hit. Banks wrote off $30 billion. And international investors sued Spain in more than 40 arbitration cases. Across the country, half-built and abandoned solar farms sit idle. Ghost infrastructure from a failed policy. Spain tried to engineer a solar boom with subsidies. Instead, it produced one of the largest renewable bankruptcies in the world.

All the spent fuel produced by the US nuclear industry over 60 years would fit on a single football field stacked less than 10 yards high. This highlights the staggering difference in scale between nuclear and wind waste. It comes down to volume, density and containment. Because this volume of spent fuel is so small, it's easily contained in steel-and-concrete dry casks, engineered to withstand missile impacts and natural disasters. It has a perfect safety record regarding water table contamination. By contrast, wind power requires roughly 10 times more concrete and 90 times more steel in material intensity per terawatt-hour. While a blade is 'stable' in a landfill, the sheer scale of unrecyclable composite waste - thousands of tons every year - creates a massive, uncontained environmental footprint. This stretches off to infinity as entire generations of wind turbines must be written off and replaced at least every 20 years. We manage nuclear 'waste' as a high-value byproduct - but we simply bury turbine waste on a scale of hundreds of locomotives and hope for the best. By contrast, the spent nuclear fuel isn’t ‘waste' at all. That is a fundamental misconception. Roughly 96% of the energy content remains in the fuel after its first cycle. France and Russia already recycle this into MOX (mixed oxide) fuel. Compare this to widely dumped industrial wastes like lead, arsenic, and mercury, which never decay and are toxic for eternity.

Europe calls biomass clean energy, but the reality is brutal. To power its green transition, the EU is burning millions of tons of wood pellets every year, shipped in from the US and Canada. Europe is cutting down forests halfway around the world, grinding them into pellets and shipping them across the Atlantic to burn in its power stations. Unsurprisingly, the total emissions here are higher than simply burning coal, according to peer-reviewed studies by the EU's own scientific advisors. But countries like the UK, Denmark and the Netherlands do it anyway, because it technically counts as zero carbon emissions.
