Before the sun rises over Meru National Park, the park is completely still. Then slowly… the sky turns gold. You step outside Kinna House, our self catering accommodation facility, nestled in the park, with a cup of coffee in hand or a glass of juice. No crowded dining rooms. Just you, the wild, and the sound of birds waking up. By mid-morning, you’ve already spotted elephants moving through the tall grass. Maybe a lion stretched out under an acacia tree. The Big 5 live here. So do the Special 5. And over 400 species of birds that make every drive feel like a discovery. Afternoons are slow. Evenings are magic. The sunsets? Unreal. Meru isn’t just a park you visit. It’s a place you feel. Stay in the wild. Cook your own meals. Move at your own pace. Wake up to nature, not noise. Meru National Park is calling! Plan your visit today 👉 reservations.kws.go.ke #JiachilieInKenyaParks #TunzaMaliYako

The beauty of a safari lies in the wonders along the way - rolling hills, towering trees, and breathtaking landscapes. But remember, wild animals are road users too.... just like mzee kobe here. Drive mindfully, stay vigilant, and protect both your safety and theirs. 📹 Amkich Karanja

𝐈𝐧 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐮𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐦: 𝐀 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐃𝐚𝐰𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚’𝐬 𝐑𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐬 Rhino conservation in the greater Laikipia ecosystem has gained renewed momentum following a high-level stakeholders’ meeting in Nanyuki under the Kenya Rhino Range Expansion Initiative (KRRE). The forum brought together key leaders and partners, including Hon. Jane Kagiri, Laikipia Women Representative, whose presence underscored local political support for the initiative. Speaking at the forum, Kenya Wildlife Service Director General, Prof. @ErustusKanga, described KRRE as a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform Kenya’s ecological and socio-economic landscape. Prof. Kanga emphasized that by restoring black rhinos across their historic range in Laikipia, KRRE seeks to establish one of the world’s largest rhino habitats—spanning more than 34,000 km², almost six percent of Kenya’s landmass. He noted that this landmark initiative will not only secure the future of the species but also strengthen ecological integrity, create meaningful jobs, and inspire national pride. He further affirmed that KRRE represents a legacy of protection, prosperity, and unity—one that future generations will remember with admiration for the leaders, partners, and communities who made it possible. Kenya’s black rhino conservation story is one of extraordinary resilience. From an estimated 20,000 rhinos in the 1970s, the population plummeted to just 381 by 1990 due to rampant poaching. Thanks to decades of unwavering commitment by rangers, scientists, conservancies, communities, and partners, Kenya surpassed 1,000 black rhinos in 2024—a global conservation triumph. However, success has introduced new challenges. Overcrowding in existing rhino sanctuaries is now limiting further growth. The KRRE project directly addresses this by creating secure, connected habitats across Tsavo and Central Kenya, opening vast new landscapes for rhinos to roam while enhancing genetic diversity. The initiative aims to grow Kenya’s black rhino population to over 2,000 by 2037 and 3,900 by 2050, contributing significantly to the recovery of the species worldwide. #TunzaMaliYako
