In my testimony to Canadian parliamentary special committee that went on to approve the expansion of MAID here I tried to convey that difference with the example me needing a new wheelchair seat cushion.

I'd imagine that, even if I was totally secure in my masculinity, I'd find it annoying af to have big fat deposits and extra tissue hanging off my chest. Dysphoria or not, that sounds uncomfortable.

Reading up on the whole "Vietnam vets were treated badly" phenomenon and unsurprisingly, like a lot of American grievances, it's literally just a thing that Burgers half remembered seeing in a movie once and thought it was real (in this case Rambo)

There's a horrid reply to this tweet from a profoundly selfish pseudoscience hack and I'm just sharing it to highlight their affiliation to A*tism Speaks. Imagine if for the last decade or so people had taken disabled people's warnings about these groups and people seriously.

There is far more money to be made treating a patient, than CURING a patient.
Worked with a person who had stage four lung cancer
They were put on a drug that halted the progression of the cancer. Then just treated it. Why not go the distance and cure

The NIH was supposed to be an agency where the American public put at their highest trust level. It’s been exposed that many of your leaders work indirectly for pharmaceuticals and the same leaders hold patents that are used by these companies where they are paid royalties. These royalties cause a conflict of interest, they want to make money off their patents even though they may cause harm to the public. The NIH needs to be dismantled, the majority fired.

@mymanbpostin uh, my dad is a Vietnam vet (he was a doctor, hurt no one) and at the center of the early anti war vets movement and they 100% were treated like s**t by the folx who shd have been organizing with them. The spitting thing is a myth tho

@mymanbpostin It does not help that conscientious objectors betrayed the army by refusing to fight in certain situations. That ended any chance of these people being treated well by their own government— their whining was a liability after the war
