Just as Paris has proven, congestion pricing and car free zones are intended to keep suburban minorities out of white city center neighborhoods. They do this by making the experience of sharing space with whites as unpleasant as possible for minorities.

@AlJenko98 @NoCyclopathTO Okay. Make cyclists pay for all this fancy stuff. Licensing. Registration. Yearly bike inspections. Outlaw fixie bicycles that have no brakes. Ticket bicycles for not stopping on stop signs or red lights. Mandatory helmets passing the same safety standards as mopeds/motorcycles.

@MarkSharon_DP @francesca_kms @chrisbowes40 Some may be, but even BIAs have changed their minds when they realized that safer streets and adding bicycle infrastructure improved businesses. Any bias studies still hold true in their conclusions. Also, it's not unlike the auto industry, which has also put out bias studies.

8 cyclists take up the space of 1 car. In London, ~60% of car trips are solo & <2% of roads have protected cycle lanes.
Bikes aren’t causing congestion. Every bike is 1 less car in your way.
Solution: restrict non-essential private car use so essential services can get through

@francesca_kms @chrisbowes40 Completely untrue. Taxation from vehicle use covers the cost of providing facilities by a large margin. Drivers are exploited to fund other unrelated projects.

One of their routes even serves a similar population along the track between two major cities. It's similar to Alto's proposed network.

Our cities are farther apart.
Regional flights are more economical & faster than highspeed rail.
Not to mention the work and cost needed to bring track levels to Category II status (200 km/h).
Never mind the expenses for Category I track status (250 km/h).
