I have been briefed on today’s horrifying stabbings on the Upper West Side, where an Asian man and a Jewish man were attacked. According to witness and victim statements, the perpetrator yelled “Allahu Akbar” during both attacks. I am relieved that both victims are in stable condition.
The NYPD responded immediately and arrested Raul Morales in connection with both assaults—and I am grateful to the officers for their swift response.
The NYPD’s initial investigation suggests that mental health may have been a factor. They are also evaluating these stabbings as potential hate crimes.
These hateful and despicable attacks have no place in our city.

This afternoon, two people were stabbed in separate attacks on the Upper West Side. Both victims — an Asian male and a Jewish male — were removed to Mt. Sinai-St. Luke’s Hospital, and both are expected to survive. The NYPD has arrested 51-year-old Raul Morales in connection with both assaults, and no other people are being sought. Detectives are continuing to work the case and determine motive, but according to victim and witness statements, Morales yelled “Allahu Akbar” during both attacks. The NYPD is currently evaluating whether this is a potential hate crime. While the perpetrator has no known mental health history with the NYPD, the initial investigation suggests that mental health may have been a factor. At this time there is no known link between Morales and either of the victims, nor between the victims and each other. I want to commend the bravery of a good Samaritan who led our officers to the location where the perpetrator was hiding, as well as our NYPD cops who brought an end to the incident without further injuries.

These Doordashers accepted a delivery that was more than a 20 minute drive, to deliver liquor.
They were very unhappy with the customers for not leaving a tip, so they tried knocking on the door and ringing the bell to get them to the door.
After no response, they decided to quit DD and take the liquor for themselves.
Our tip culture here is so messed up anymore. But at what point should DD be held responsible and start paying their employees more? Not like they dont make enough...

ALERT: Woman who got out of jail less than 2 weeks ago allegedly shoots a 12-year-old boy over a water bottle selling turf dispute in Wisconsin.
Cosetta Burrell, 33, got out of her white SUV in Milwaukee and fired 5 or 6 shots at the boy, hitting him in the leg.
1 shot hit a nearby home where several children were inside, but luckily no one was hurt.
Reports say she shot the boy over who got to sell water bottles at a certain street median.
Burrell then led police on a pursuit going up to 83 MPH, with her 4 children, aged 7-12, in the vehicle.
Burrell, who has several prior felonies including physical abuse of a child, admitted on a recorded jail call that she shot the boy and even called herself a “hero.”
Milwaukee County Circuit Court Commissioner Barry Phillips responded, saying, "Nobody in the community, nobody in the hood, thinks that somebody that shoots a 12-year-old kid is a hero… You are not a hero. If you did this, you're a zero."

A mother at Quality by Choice Hotels in Bensalem, Pennsylvania is locked out of her room. Her three minor children — a 1-year-old, 10-year-old, and 12-year-old — are trapped inside alone.
Her key won’t work. The front desk clerk refuses to make her another one. She’s now waiting for 911 while recording everything, calling it “the best lawsuit I’ve ever walked into.”
The clerk sits there checking his watch while her babies are vulnerable on the other side of that door.
This is not customer service. This is a failure to protect a family.
Choice Hotels — fix your policies, train your staff, and take guest safety seriously. Leaving kids alone because of “policy” is unacceptable.

A few week back Olive Garden launched its Pasta Pass. It entitles the owner of this pass 13 weeks of never ending pasta for about $100 plus tax. But the catch is like how it is at a buffet. The one who pays for it in their name is only the one that can use it, this eliminates sharing it with others. This man is upset that Olive Garden requires a photo ID with each use to verify the customer is in fact the card holder. He thinks anybody who buys it should be able to allow all their friends and family to use it too, is he right in his opinion?
My family enjoys the Korean BBQ places and normally most of them are all you can eat, the price is per person as expected. However on occasion I will see people try to cheat the system. I saw a group of four people walk in and one ordered only sushi while the other got the all you can eat. The other two didn’t order anything. One of them shared the sushi with the other which is fair because it’s a one time purchase but the person who bought the all you can eat tried to share the meat with the rest of the table. They would eat off his plate. The server caught on quickly and when the bill came they were outraged that each person was charged with all you can eat.
They argued that the others were only trying the meat to see if it was good so they could decide if they would get it next time. Yet the man who paid for it got 13 plates of meat obviously to share. I left before I could see what happened but they tried everything from getting loud to asking for a manager. Deals like these are always per person, the restaurant would lose too much money if they only charged one person while 4 ate obviously. The idea of an all you can eat was always so easy for me to grasp, surely these people aren’t stupid, but are they deliberately trying to cheat the system? In the ads they don’t mention the price is each person which is a loophole I’ve seen work.

Is greed the reason why many retailers and streaming services are trying to stop me from sharing my membership subscriptions? Netflix was once promoting sharing your account with family and friends and now they charge you to do it. I could once walk into a warehouse club and use my mom’s account no questions asked and now I’m asked to scan or show ID to get in. Is it worth alienating their customer base to make more money with memberships? It makes me think we all are just a quota for them. The customer experience is gone, it’s all about money money money now. I pay for it, if I can’t use it, let me share it that day. Limit visits instead of restricting access. That’s my two cents.
