Many people wrongfully blame the pandemic for the collapse of Vegas, but they started the reduction of regular middle class attendees starting in the mid to late 2000s when they started instituting resort fees at many of the casinos and later in the 2010s they started charging for parking. Comps kept getting worse and worse did not help either. I think they are like Dinsey and will not make changes until the people have gotten out of the habit of going and then it will be too late.

@_Matt_Hammond_ @politicalmath Only time I went to Vegas, bout 6/7 yrs ago, I was sitting at a bar playing penny slots to get free drinks and I didnt get a single drink. I had 2 buy 1 then never saw the bartender again. I can get hammered off losing 20 bucks on penny slots at my local casino

@politicalmath Nothing is cheap anymore. From videos I have watched about Vegas explaining the issues - they charge for parking - they charge a resort fee - they reduced comps - prices exploded for food and drinks

@politicalmath First time I went to NO for a bachelor party me and my friend went to bed early 1 night because we were whipped out and got up early and decided to go grt breakfast on bourbon street. Bourbon street at 7 am is something else.

When I lived in SLC, my very favorite trip was driving down to Vegas for a conference. It's a beautiful 5 hour drive that takes you through some of the most beautiful landscapes in America then you get to Vegas and you can enjoy the cheap drinks, parties, and dive bars or you can go hiking and chill by the pool. I would jog the strip at 6AM which was always a delight b/c 6AM Vegas is it's own funny experience

Listening to people in the golf club their consensus is that Tiger can make it back to the top 20 in the world?! I do wonder if people watch or understand golf at times! 🙄

@sflgent61 @Moonlight_myths She has done the test. He doesn't want to believe it because he wants a way out of the marriage and parenthood. She could show him 1000 tests and he just doesn't want to face it because he's convinced himself this is his way out.

My sister gave birth to a red-haired daughter. But she and her husband are both dark-haired. No one in our family has red hair. My sister insists that her husband's great-grandfather was red-haired, and that's how it was passed down. Her husband didn't believe her, especially since she has this one red-haired colleague at work. Anyway, he insisted on a DNA test, which they did after huge fights and screaming matches. My sister threw the paper in his face. It showed 99.9% he's the father. But he still doesn't believe it, says the test could have been faked or someone paid off the lab. He wants to do another one at a different lab, but my sister is afraid this will definitely lead them to divorce He's not even talking to my sister right now. But he says it's better to find out the truth and live with a clear conscience. He doesn't want to raise someone else's child. I believe my sister 100%, but I have to admit the situation is pretty bizarre. Does anyone know anything about genetics?

@Moonlight_myths Why is your sister fighting? Is she a moron? If it’s really his kid then just say sure and do the test until the husband is sure. There is only one reason why she would protest. One word out of her mouth of protest means that she is guilty of cheating.

So tired of this Spieth narrative. I don’t think it’s fun or cute to watch him barely make the cut/fade away over the weekend while slapping it all over the course. I don’t dislike him, but there are so many more golfers to watch/root for.

Post-Covid, they let anyone in just to survive. Cheap rooms, chaos, TikTok fights, people crying about $20 water in the desert. Now? That era’s over. Prices went up. Vibe cleaned up. And the people who can actually afford to be here showed back up. If you think Vegas is dead… you’re probably just not the target customer anymore. And judging by the crowds — they’re perfectly fine with that.

I understand the Tiger Worship. For a couple generations he’s a golf god. But he’ll be lucky to endure 72 holes walking those hills at Augusta if he manages to make the cut. And if he gets a late-early tee time combo, he’ll likely not make the cut. His body is older than his age. Just enjoy what he is now

@rallygoat Well I think St Louis is a big media market - whether St Louis University draws that market in enough for it to matter is a different thing Extreme comparison because of how bad they are but BC is in the Boston market - not sure how much that matters though

SLU, VCU, Dayton to BE is interesting On one hand - don’t think they materially change value of league from a tv deal perspective so more teams = less money On the other hand - I definitely think it materially improves the quality of the league I lean towards yes

@SunnyInProv Id take the 1st 2 but no on Dayton. For starters no chance Xavier would allow it but I just dont think they bring much to the table. VCU is a powerhouse and I think the BE elevates them to NC contenders and st Louis is a major media market. What does Dayton give us?
