These features on the pcb look like little bugs faces. I think this is for shorting across on purpose like a jumper, but for more current.

There are almost NO entry level PCB design positions as far as I can tell. The best way to get your foot in the door is at a service bureau. But all the job positions I see when looking want experienced people and for you to have experience in their software preferences
Kalex@malexhc8o

@blind_via @potassiumlover I barely see job postings for entry level stuff. Been looking in Texas😭

@blind_via 5 years and their only demo is a drone shining down so i’m definitely skeptical. apparently they’re launching their first sat this year though, i think it’s pretty cool if it works

@MandicReally @BrownDogWelding there’s a few chinese suppliers making sub-10k units that are more production-like but idk if any are fully out yet. the Loopzizo just finished their Kickstarter at like 6k/unit

@pcbz_ @BrownDogWelding Aside from one or two DIY projects I wouldn’t rely on for production, I’m not aware of any cheaper than that. The cheapest I know is the Raised3d RMS220.

I work for a defense contractor. Ever wonder why those parts cost so much? The amount of R&D, testing, audits, approved suppliers, meetings, audits, meetings, testing, meetings, more testing, and more audits the government REQUIRES for every little thing that has a part number?

A U.S. Marine Corps release on March 23, 2026 detailed how Lance Cpl. Eirick Schule developed a 3D-printed replacement for the MUOS antenna mast in April 2025, cutting costs from $5,644 per unit to about $10 and reducing delivery time from over 7 months to 10 hours, with 107 units produced and an estimated $600,000 saved.

@BrownDogWelding That part is also pretty clearly SLS printed. Which the cheapest machines are $30k+. Granted you can produce a handful of those parts per batch. But the photo in front of the same Prusa printers I run in my studio is a little artistic license.

At #TCTAsia, @CFSYS_Global showcased the P3 prototype, a desktop continuous-fiber IDEX printer. The right toolhead’s hotend-swapping concept builds on ideas seen in @BambulabGlobal’s Vortek. How quickly Chinese manufacturers adopt and iterate on new technical directions 🤔

"The old timers don't know what they are doing" You young people should respect your elders. We stand on the shoulders of giants. You would have nothing if it were not of the efforts of those who came before you to pave the way.

a common baseline respect is something that should be given regardless of status, it’s just common courtesy. i don’t think that’s what most people are referring to when talking about this. i generally hate age discourse as it’s usually just a way to claim some sort of right to being disrespectful in itself

@pcbz_ Common respect for other human beings should not have to be earned. Respecting someone for a specific quality is different, and I agree that that would need to be earned. And you are definitely right, it goes both ways, I would write an inverted post that covers the other side.

4x8 ft. merino wool map throw; made a 1bit PNG map of Manhattan, technical weaver Natalia Nicolau wove it into an enormous reversible blanket. Softest map I've made, feels like a real nice sweater.
