Honoured to attend the Mpumalanga State of the Province Address this morning where Premier Mandla Ndlovu recognised the progress of the Just Energy Transition in the province. A special moment was standing with Freddy Mkhwanazi of HMI Projects, one of the entrepreneurs helping to build the Ummbila Emoyeni wind project. Freddy founded his company 15 years ago and today employs 82 people on our site, many from Bethal, Davel and Morgenzon. Seeing local businesses grow and create jobs through world class infrastructure projects is exactly what this transition should deliver. #JustEnergyTransition #JET #Mpumalanga #LocalEnterprise #WindEnergy #SeritiGreen #EnergySecurity #Seriti

I'm proud that #Mission300 has connected 39 million people across Africa to electricity—creating jobs and powering homes, businesses, schools, and hospitals. We’re making real progress; onward to 300 million by 2030. worldbank.org/en/programs/en… #PoweringAfrica

Having complimentary wind energy generation across South Africa’s geography is key to balance the solar PV construction. The energy supply needs to be a balanced mix of multi technologies and geographies.

Unlocking 900MW of Renewable Energy for South Africa South Africa’s clean energy journey marked an important milestone today with the handover of the Vunumoya Main Transmission Station (MTS) by Seriti Green to Eskom and the National Transmission Company South Africa (NTCSA). The R1 billion, 18-month project is now fully energised, operational, and integrated into the national grid. It enables the first 155MW from Seriti Green’s Ummbila Emoyeni One Wind Energy Facility to be integrated into the grid ahead of schedule, kick-starting a 900MW renewable energy rollout that positions Mpumalanga as a growing clean energy hub. Built with advanced 400kV and 132kV infrastructure and a 500MVA transformer, the station is ready for future expansion. Phase 1, originally planned for March 2026, has been accelerated to deliver energy from 28 November 2025, supporting Seriti Resources’ decarbonisation goals. The energy transition is about action and not words. All mining companies have a responsibility towards their local stakeholders to ensure that their transition is formulated about skills, job opportunities and on the ground support. Creating jobs and opportunities is hard and one needs to be purposeful about this. Mpumalanga, especially the Highveld has a huge opportunity to succeed but all role players need to working towards a positive jobs outcome.

@Moneyweb @MMkhabel It is pity that JET projects are being implemented and donors are kept away by the raft of consultants and gate keepers. The best way to do these projects is to engage with the people on the ground.
