Not to sound geriatric but...you know what i miss? Turning something on and it just works. No account setup. No app download. No QR code. No "sign in to continue". Just plug it in and it does the thing its supposed to do.

The sophomore slump is a farce. It is a made-up media narrative applied to hand-selected players. Funny enough, my wife has a class that uses MLB and the sophomore slump as a test case to determine whether it is a statistically observable phenomenon. I will post a longer form response as to why later on.

#1 - make sure it's good enough to be read. That means getting notes from pros - not friends. #2 - plenty of ways to get read - contests, script hosting sites, networking, self-promotion, cold email querying, alumni networks, etc. Best way will always be a referral. Almost everyone knows someone who knows someone who knows someone. But back to #1 - you only get 1 shot with that person so make sure it's great.

I dunno who needs to hear this, but if you're a new, unproven, unproduced, unrep'd writer - unless you're a well-connected nepobaby - there is no shortcut or easy way to sell a film or show. No one is buying your pitch if u dont have anything to prove you can write. No one is buying your treatment - thats not a thing. No one is buying your pitchdeck without reading your pilot! You HAVE to write it. Full stop.

@MarineLayerPod The decision they make will determine how bad they want to go to the post season. JP stays? Not serious. Colt at SS? Serious.

What do the Mariners value more: their clubhouse culture, or the best defensive alignment possible? That’s what they will have to answer when Colt Emerson eventually joins the team, and they decide on a shortstop for the rest of the season

The overall mediocrity of the American League is staggering. It collectively has a .480 winning percentage. Nobody likes how the Mariners have started this season, but this is the best possible backdrop for a slow start.

@TheWARmonger_ I guess the pitcher can't throw a pitch like that with runners on base, if he doesn't want them to advance. It does hurt the aesthetic of the game if the pitcher is just throwing crazy "wiffle ball" strikes into the backstop, pitch after pitch. I don't know

Many responded that the catcher should have to catch the ball for a strike call. That is generally how umpires operated for most of the game's history. Do you agree now that we have strike zone tech?
