@SageDespatches Spot on. Starmer is just a symptom of the rot in the ranks of Labour.

He should resign but as I've stated previously, I hope he clings on like a limpet. Any connoisseur of chaos would want this to continue. The chaos can be revealing. We get to see how people behave whilst their ship is sinking. Not long ago they were helping to implement government policy, giving media interviews and voting in the commons and now they're turning on the person they helped become prime minister and then agreed to serve in his cabinet. We are supposed to believe that the mess they helped to create had nothing to do with them. I say let them suffer. I hope this drags on until the next general election.
Chris Rose@ArchRose90

Keir Starmer 7/7/2022: “He [Boris]needs to go. He can’t cling on. His own party have now decided that he’s unfit to be prime minister. They can’t now inflict him on the country for the next few months” He called for a GE. Starmer’s own standards suggests that he should resign.

@Itwitius A klaxon should sound every time they use those phrases and look earnest. I have another pet peeve: starting an answer with "So" and delivering pre-rehearsed waffle.

Look, I won't comment on individual cases, but to waiting news reporters and politicians - stop saying 'Look' at the start of each sentence. Let me be absolutely clear, do not say 'listen' either. Hard working families don't like it. #TVgibberish

I keep reading that the best way to keep clothes' moths at bay is to put your woollen items in the freezer, so I've had a look and worked out that if I shift everything around and remove the light dusting of peas, I'll have room for one glove.

Great article- Venue that cancelled Jewish band received £80,000 from Arts Council Campaigners said the public body should pull support from organisations like Strange Brew in Bristol that had created a ‘hostile place’ for British Jews

While the GRA makes it a criminal offence for employers to ‘out’ their ‘trans’ employees with a GRC, how can they make them use the facilities appropriate to their sex?

@LucyGoBag Yes. The human instinct is to raise your hands and protect your head, allowing the officer to disarm/handcuff. If he's keeping the weapon close and won't raise his hands, then an almighty kick is required.

The kicking looks extremely brutal to the suspect. I am the first to worry about it. However I have also educated myself on subduing an attack since MAN airport incident and my understanding that multiple kicks to head are including in training when there is clear threat to life

@TheCountessIE Barrister Naomi Cunningham uses the Peanut Free analogy. (If it's labelled Peanut Free then it must be peanut free, or there are consequences and harms). No-one can argue 'where's the harm in a couple of peanuts in a peanut free dish?'

Eoin cherry picks the most favourable argument to suit his world view. Mara has given him numerous examples. Female sport should consist of zero males, irrespective of how they identify. The female category is not protected if males can enter & only get removed after the fact, or if London Marathon keeps partial self ID policies. Mara @mara_yamauchi and @SportSEENuk are right to keep calling it out. The data & policy reality show the problem isn’t exaggerated, it’s being incrementally tolerated. #SaveWomensSport
Eoin O'Callaghan@eoine_oc

@itsafrogslife @mara_yamauchi ... the single example of a Female being “hecheated” by a male in all of Ireland T&F history was the time Caster Semenya ran in the Cork City sports in 2022. Note World Athletics trans guidelines didn’t come into effect until 31 March 2023.

“I think that’s the best outcome now, but what a terrible outcome.” Despite the “sunk costs” in the Iran war, Kate McCann and Stig Abell discuss whether the best outcome for the conflict may simply be a return to the pre-war status quo. @KateEMcCann | @StigAbell

@pekkar7 @jowilliams293 I'm not sure police involvement for its own sake is a good thing, given what is going on with policing generally.

Unless there's more to be revealed about Scott Mills, it doesn't seem great that people can be fired on the basis of allegations dropped because of insuficient evidence...

@bigbluetractor @jowilliams293 Perhaps he was motivated to prevent it happening again. Mills would have had a massive shock upon arrest/interview. Sometimes the process of police involvement is sufficient punishment/prevention

What if you started crocheting a Hogwarts blanket years ago and you've still only done the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw bottom bits and haven't even got to the crest in the middle and your son will probably have left home by the time you finish? Do I have to stop or what?

My take on Harry Potter boycotting is that I think if you bought HP stuff before JK Rowling’s transphobia was revealed, that’s fine, I’m not going to make you sell your childhood books. Just dont support financially directly NOW.

Really disappointing article by @Mickcliff in the @irishexaminer - I find it difficult to comprehend how an intelligent, seemingly curious, and successful journalist can write about the importance of compassion in the gender debate with zero consideration of women who simply want single-sex spaces and sports, of parents who are aware of the lifelong adverse medical impacts of transition, of people who simply do not want to be forced to hold a philosophical belief they disagree with. Why is it that people so often centre the men who identify as women rather that women who are women? Really disappointed reading this today. I agree that compassion is needed for people distressed about their gender but I suggest compassion is equally important for those who do not have a gender identity or who don’t align with gender identity beliefs. irishexaminer.com/opinion/column…
