I was sent the attached table and was quite shocked at the difference in the number of staff employed by the ACT government and Moreton Bay council given they have similar populations. The ACT run hospitals and schools (I think the Federal AFP employ the police and energy is run by AGL) which according to Dr Google employ just under 20,000 employees in the ACT. That leaves around 10,000 plus employees in the ACT v just over 2,000 employees in the Moreton shire to do garbage, water, parks etc. A ratio of 5 to 1. We then have big cities like Sydney and Melbourne which have 33 and 31 councils respectively averaging around 170,000 residents per council. Despite the large number of councils many parts of Sydney and Melbourne are becoming cesspits per the article below. 👇 Brisbane City Council on the other hand has 1.4 million residents and doesn’t have the same littering problems in Sydney and Melbourne. It’s time we had a Federation convention to streamline the number of governments in this country, especially metropolitan areas. (The regions are different due to their size). We also need to remove the duplication of government departments between State and Federal Departments. Cutting 1 million temporary visas is an urgent requirement to relieve the housing crisis for Australians. 1 million temporary migrants occupy 400,000 homes (using the Australian average occupancy of 2.5 people per home). 400,000 new homes is over 2x total homes built in 2025.

With Australia's preferential voting system, if your first preference vote does not qualify to the final count, that vote goes to your second preference and so on. Without preferential voting you would not have the rise of One Nation as it allows voters to show their intent.

The reason is very simple. India is a country that has 1.4 billion people. Australia is a country that has a population of 28 million people. Add to that the vast difference in standard of living between the two countries and it's not hard to see that the migration agreement is extremely asymmetrical, resulting in many more Indians willing to come to Australia than Australians going to India. India has been the largest driver of the increase in immigration over the last decade adding to an already constrained infrastructure, housing market and government service sectors. As a former Prime Minister who was heavily involved in loosening immigration requirements with India, Scott Morrison should not be working to further entrench this asymmetrical arrangement. Australians must come first with no exceptions.
