IRAN SWAPS MISSILES FOR DRONES IN GULF STRIKES
Iran is increasingly using drones instead of missiles in attacks on Gulf states. UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait report most recent strikes involve Iranian-made Shahed drones, while missile launches have dropped sharply.
Drones carry lighter payloads but are cheaper and easier to mass-launch, posing persistent challenges for air defenses. The shift may reflect U.S. and Israeli targeting of Iran’s missile stockpiles and Tehran’s effort to conserve advanced weapons while maintaining regional pressure.
UAE has intercepted the most projectiles, and Bahrain notes drones now dominate attack waves, highlighting the cost imbalance between cheap Iranian drones and expensive defense systems.
