Our social muscles are atrophying.

When work ends, there’s no transition. No commute, no decompression, no chance encounters. Just closing one tab and opening another. X, Instagram, endless scrolling. Consuming other people’s lives late into the night without hearing a single real human voice. Not one genuine moment of connection...

So many people will wake up today in a quiet apartment, make coffee, maybe fry a couple eggs or pour a bowl of cereal, and eat alone at the counter or on the couch. No conversation, no friction, no reason to even speak out loud. Just another morning slipping by in silence...

feels like a lot of people have gotten a little worse at talking not in a big obvious way just slightly more hesitant more in your head real conversation feels more awkward than it used to so you avoid it but the fix is kind of simple just get reps in say how are you to the cashier at the grocery store ask the delivery driver how his day’s going smile and say hi to someone on your walk you get the point low stakes, no pressure it’s like doing negatives on a pullup or just benching the bar you have to start somewhere and then it gets easier you build muscle over time.
