@Fragbaza This is very beautiful Father. It sounds like a few of the things Agios Paisios mentions above echoes from the Book of Sirach. Sirach 3:15 - "It will be remembered in the day of your affliction. Thus your sins will melt away like frost in warm weather."

Last night, while I was going to the temple for the vigil, I saw a father in a corner with a baby in a wheelchair. I went up to them, hugged the baby, and gave him a kiss. 'Do you know that you are an angel?' I asked him. To his father I said, 'It is a great honor for you to care for an angel. Be happy, because you both will go to Heaven.' Their faces beamed with joy because they felt the comfort of God.  Those who love and patiently care for the sick, the crippled, and others like them wash away their own sins through their sacrifice. If they have no sins, they become sanctified. A woman once told me about miraculous instances in her life. I was surprised because the conditions she described are usually only encountered in the lives of saints, yet she was an ordinary, simple woman. But when she told me how she had lived most of her life, I realized that her entire existence had been one of complete self-sacrifice. As a young girl, she began visiting the sick because her grandfather and grandmother, who were ill, lived in her parents' house. When she married, her father-in-law and mother-in-law lived with them, and they were also ill. Then her husband fell ill; he was bedridden, and she nurtured him. This woman spent her whole life taking care of the sick. All those years, she truly wanted to read spiritual books and go to the temple for all-night vigils, but she never had the time. However, because she had a selfless excuse, God gave her all His grace combined." St. Paisios of Mount Athos

Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, The joy of the Lord’s Resurrection is a foretaste of the eternal joy in the Kingdom of God. If we have suffered and died with Christ, we have the hope that we shall also rise with Him, for death has been conquered and no longer terrifies us. If by Adam’s disobedience death entered the world, Christ became perfectly obedient to the Father, loved us to the very end, and, enduring torments and death on the Cross, rose again on the third day, according to the Scriptures. It is fitting that we rejoice and that our hearts leap with gladness in these days filled with cascades of light, for the risen Christ dies no more, and no one can steal from us the joy of His Resurrection. Let us forgive one another all things for the sake of the Resurrection, and let us celebrate spiritually in the peace and joy of the Holy Spirit. Blessed feast to you all! Christ is Risen!

The Greek Orthodox Church has been chanting the Byzantine Greek hymn “Christos Anesti” (He is risen) continuously for 1600 years, in the same liturgy and language. The heart of the Empire still beats in Greece that patiently waiting for its revival.

Once, a person was asked: “What have you gained by regularly praying to God?” He replied: “I can say that I've lost - anger, selfishness, greed, depression, insecurity, and the fear of death.” Very often, when we pray, we don't gain anything, but we lose... And this is the greatest gain.

"For I am God, and there is no other God besides Me. I have proclaimed and I will save; I have framed and multiplied, and there is none like Me. "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. "But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall." Matthew 7,21-27.

On a winter morning, St. Basil the Great entered the empty church and beheld angels at the doors - gentle, holding scrolls of light. As people entered, the angels wrote their names… but only when hearts were truly present. A pure-hearted elder: name shining brightly. A hopeful woman burdened by cares: written with warm light. A sincere child: his name blazed, illuminating all. Yet many entered distracted - judging, murmuring, hearts elsewhere. Angels looked on in sorrow; scrolls remained blank. St. Basil wept: “Lord, help us enter Your house not merely with bodies, but with souls aflame. Write us in heaven.” Brothers and sisters: Next time you step into church, come with humility, repentance, hope. Let the unseen angels inscribe your name. Heaven recognizes the humble heart.

@lady_valor_07 Guys, it’s not that complicated. 500 / (1/2) = 500 x 2 or 500 ÷ 0.5 =1000 1000 + 50 is 1050.

A blessed Lord's Day to all! An excerpt from todays Gospel reading: When the disciples heard this they were greatly astonished, saying, "Who then can be saved?" But Jesus looked at them and said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

🔸 August 27 - Saint Phanourios 🕯️🔸 Today, we commemorate Saint Phanourios, the newly revealed Great-Martyr of Rhodes. His memory was lost to the faithful for centuries until excavations in Rhodes uncovered an icon depicting scenes from the unknown Saint's life. For the miraculous manner in which he was revealed, he is honored as the patron Saint of lost things. Around 1500 AD, after the Muslims had conquered Rhodes, the new ruler wished to rebuild the ruined city walls. While excavating, they uncovered a beautiful church inside a cave, as well as several icons (most of which were in a state of decay). One icon however appeared new and radiant. When the Muslims discarded this icon, a group of monks reclaimed it and beheld in the center a military Saint with the name "Phanourios" who held a candle, and around him were 12 scenes depicting his suffering and martyrdom. These scenes show the Saint standing before a magistrate, being beaten with stones by soldiers, and having his flesh scourged by iron hooks. He is also shown in prison, being burned with candles, tied to a torture rack, being thrown to wild beasts, being crushed by a large rock, and standing before pagan idols holding burning hot coals while a demon laments his defeat by the saint. Finally, the Saint stands in a fiery furnace with his hands raised in prayer. When Nilus the Bishop of Rhodes saw the icon, he perceived that this newly revealed Saint, who had been forgotten with the passage of time, was a martyr who refused to renounce his faith in Christ before a pagan Roman magistrate, and suffered brutal tortures and execution. When Bishop Nilus was rejected permission by the local Muslim ruler to restore the church, he went to Constantinople and obtained a decree allowing him to do so. The Church of St Phanourios can be visited in Rhodes today. Just as his sainthood was uncovered in a dark cave, the name Phanourios means "the one who brings to light". Thus, he holds a candle in his icons to show that he reveals and illuminates lost things. In many icons the Saint is also seen holding "Fanouropita", a traditional cake made by Christians to show their reverence for him.
