Remember Warlord? Got distracted today with wee war comic project. This weekly comic first hit newsagents on 28 Sept 1974, when I was 10. It launched some iconic characters but also a bunch of secret agents. It was an act of marketing genius which went live with issue 20 on 8 Feb 1975. I ran a ring of agents which met in a furniture shop on a Saturday. Were you an agent?

@Flyingarchivist @DrHelenFry Thank you Peter, all my dad mentioned was if he ever had to bail out was to lie up for a few days and then approach a farm, I’m sure I saw a film once where the pow accidentally smashed a gramophone record to find a map inside and proceeded to smash all the others with no joy 😁

@petefosk @DrHelenFry Aircrew were given lectures on escape and evasion, which would have included some mention of how to recognise goods in which aids were concealed. The MI9 Bulletin was a handbook - kept securely but available for study - giving a wide range of useful information including 1/2

This is one of my all time favourite books - “Evasion & Escape Devices” - packed with over 360 pages of colour photos of secret wartime gadgets and information 😀

I'm listening to an interview with Peter Spoden about the effectiveness of Window and 100 Group countermeasures. It was recorded in 2007. Fascinating stuff! I must get it published in the @IntBCC Digital Archive... @SpitfireFilly
