@davidsenra Close. He wakes up every day, picks up his phone, switches my tab to “For You,” then goes to war. Every day.

Elon has a great way of explaining this. He says: "My way of dealing with mental problems is to make sure you really care about what you're doing, and take the pain." I think it's so funny that the most productive person on earth does zero meditation or journaling and doesn't optimize his morning routine. He wakes up and picks up his phone and goes to war. Every day. That's his routine. He goes to war.

OK, in the interest of preserving what little mental health I still have, I’m going to see long I can go without posting or commenting on anything related to politics/state of our gov’t & world. Just sports, tv, music, cars, pop culture, nostalgia, family & friends.

@EricBalchunas I would say Ed and Harry are actually the exception and would have fit in well in the 90s and other past decades. The majority of everything else is what we should be worried about.

Steve Goodman wrote the song at the request of Cubs leadership after Tribune acquired them in ‘81 and hired Harry Caray to broadcast games. They wanted to change the attitude on the broadcast for ‘84 so they hired Goodman to write a positive song despite there being no reason to write or publish a positive song after missing the playoffs for 39 straight years. Turns out the ‘84 Cubs ended up making the playoffs but Goodman died of leukemia tragically less than a week before the Cubs clinched the eastern division. It’s a really sad and fucked up sequence of events. The song then went dormant out of respect to Steve until it was resurrected in 2007 following Goodman’s official biography was released in conjunction with the Cubs spending $150M in free agency that winter. Cubs management thought the season needed a theme song after wins, so they went back to Goodmans original Go Cubs Go. Then they won the division back to back seasons for the first time since 1907/1908 which is quite literally 100 years apart. So then it became a good luck thing and safe to say it’s never going anywhere which means if you don’t like it then you’re shit out of luck

@Camp4 Some people do prefer cloudy/lousy weather. I asked someone about it once and the response was “Being sad and melancholy makes me happy.” Whatever…bring me the sun.

I took the WORLD CHAMPION VIRGINIA TECH tunnel boring team out to dinner last night to celebrate in Blacksburg. The Diggeridoos beat every other team in the world at the Not-A-Boring Competition in Texas last week. Smallest budget. Largest outcome. Lunchpail engineering.

One time as a young CEO: We couldn’t get a permit issued by a neighboring state regulator. Weeks went by with it sitting on some guy’s desk. Phone, faxes, zoom, etc. Nothing worked. I told the person in charge of our project: “Fly out there and sit in their office until you get the permit. Bring them donuts, humility, and kindness every day.” We got that permit in 2 hours. I learned: Much of business happens because you get on a plane and go meet in person. Zoom is fine but misses this core part of human nature. Get on the damn plane.

@pinkfloyd @recordstoreday Awesome. ROIOs going mainstream, only took until 2026 😂 I always though this recording was slowed down. David’s voice sees too low. Is it not? If it is, surprised it wasn’t fixed with this release

I have never felt the power of $meta moreso than today. We put our dog down yesterday and all I am seeing today are ads for making a realistic stuffed animal of him or other keepsakes of him and it’s genuinely insane how it listens in on us and pounces.
