I ran ads inside ChatGPT for 3 weeks so you don't have to. Here's what actually happened, and who they'd be great for 👇

@koomai @claudeai I've noticed it did great one-shotting a play app that was for fun. Very little notes. But for my apps I care about I'm not seeing anything above what 4.8 or 5.5/6 are doing with my steering. Fable 5 just went harder and longer in the wrong direction in my real apps...

After 1 week of usage, the abilities of @claudeai Fable 5 have been greatly exaggerated. Source: My rate of swearing at it hasn't slowed down.

@aarondfrancis What's the best agentic framework for me to one-shot an app so I can retire and dig a secret basement under my house? No mistakes.

Developers used to tweet "what's the best JavaScript framework" to get likes. Now they tweet "I thought coding was solved 😏😏😏" anytime they see a bug

@ThePeterMick @wesbos That was 36 minutes ago - Fable 8 has been out, pulled, and now available again for the next ten minutes but I'm anticipating they extend it at least till tomorrow.

If AI drafts really good prose for a blog post I somehow feel like I have to change it just so that I'm not just contributing slop. ...but what is slop if AI came up with a better heading?

One of the things I miss most about travel (specifically business travel) was the focused uninterrupted time, often without internet on purpose...

@aarondfrancis I haven’t used them yet because I have been using textexpander before this was a feature. Considering how often I use textexpander already I’m pretty sure this is a huge deal for those who weren’t already doing something like it.

Prompt templates are my new favorite Solo primitive. I got tired of repeating myself so I told Solo to make a new prompt template for me, which it did via MCP.

@spicermatthews I think I'm getting it. Yeah, I have EVERYTHING in Obsidian and it is rather large... The offline thing is a must for me, though. I'm often without internet and I need my second brain and often don't know which part of my second brain I need till I need it.

I really wanted to love Obsidian. Makes a lot of sense in the AI world. That doesn't work for me, really. Evernote for me is more than just note-taking. It's document management. Every piece of mail that I receive gets scanned and organized. It really allows me to have a paperless office. Obsidian falls short of the document management stuff. Also, don't love having everything on my computer. I have like 50 GB in Evernote. 99% of it I never access or only access once in a while. Rather leverage the cloud than fill up my computer. With that said @HarborMyNotes It's very much like Evernote. No electron crap. Very fast. No forced AI. A promise not to be evil. Encryption is a first-class citizen. Lots of features like auto-titling, OCRing, enhanced elements and notes, a web clipper that actually works, full CLI and MCP. Open unrestricted API first. As a software developer, I love marrying Harbor with Claude. I'll do a big brain dump in a note and then just tell Claude to go implement it. Having a well-formatted place to build out my thoughts and then just pass in a link to Claude is better than the Claude Terminal. Also, having Claude put artifacts back in the Harbor is nice. Yes, there's lots of Markdown editors out there that do this, including Obsidian, but just a flow I'm starting to enjoy. Said more simply, Evernote but works.

Today I canceled @evernote. I wrote my first note on April 24, 2010 — more than 16 years ago. It became my second brain. This is a lot harder than it should be. 🧵

@spicermatthews I've been using Obsidian for years and I'm loving it. How does Harbor compare? I'm always down to play with new tools.

So I closed my account and moved everything to harbor.my 🚢 Open. Fast. API-first. A second brain built for the AI age.

One thing that's great about also having tonnes of work that's not at my computer is when I get API errors I just go get greasy. Off to get dirty.
