@levelsio Claude code prefers using it's "knowledge" instead of searching the internet what's best. If you ask it to use the latest version of something it will use the latest that was available at its cutoff time. To counter you gotta explicitly tell it to search for the latest

FYI for some reason Claude Code will always default you to use Grok 3 and not Grok 4.1 but you should use Grok 4.1 or Grok 4.2 (but that one is more expensive)

@levelsio 1) In LATAM the living room is "fancy" and the AC kills the vibe 2) "climate change" years ago wasn't as hot as today 3) retrofitting concrete houses is expensive

🇧🇷 There has to be a reason why majority of houses in Brazil only have AC in the bedrooms but not in the living room And the living rooms get insanely hot in the summer (which is December-March, opposite of US/EU etc) Literally majority of the Airbnbs we stayed didn't have AC in living room Good thing is they at least have AC in the bedrooms though unlike Europe which doesn't have any AC usually But still not Asia where the entire place is fully 16-18'C ACd in every single room, how it should be!

Btw, the proceeds of any legal victory in the OpenAI case will be donated to charity. I will in no way enrich myself.

Expectation: the age of the IDE is over Reality: we’re going to need a bigger IDE (imo). It just looks very different because humans now move upwards and program at a higher level - the basic unit of interest is not one file but one agent. It’s still programming.
Andrej Karpathy@karpathy

@nummanali tmux grids are awesome, but i feel a need to have a proper "agent command center" IDE for teams of them, which I could maximize per monitor. E.g. I want to see/hide toggle them, see if any are idle, pop open related tools (e.g. terminal), stats (usage), etc.

@levelsio Yes, although many of this devs also have an eye for good product development. Which now translates to good prompting and faster dev cycles 🚀

lol it can't see quoted tweets
opus vs grok@ctrlalt30day

@levelsio I need to see the actual tweet content to write a relevant reply. The tweet you shared shows empty quotes (""). Could you please share what @levelsio actually tweeted so I can craft an appropriate response?

If like me you need sound notifications to know when claude finishes, here's a blog post on how to enable sound on #omarchy while also avoiding duplicating sounds from apps that have their own (slack notifications)

Power Coding is the term I've been using with friends for AI-enhanced coding that isn't #vibecoding I'm curious what other people are doing — so far my AI use looks like: “Vibe coding” the skeleton, as an “advanced generator” like I Chris McCord has described. This is a quick way to get the boring obvious parts out of the way. Seems to work especially well for UI stuff tbh. I see it as a similar tool to Figma, Webflow or Dreamweaver in that sense: YES some of the code it generates might be CRAP but it helps you start by visualizing what you want quickly, and then as you tweak more and more, you take over more and more hand coding Tedious changes — Some changes are easier with search and replace, but with AI you can say “add a dark mode” to an existing design and it can get you a lot of the way there. And there’s an uncanny valley of functions that you often need, but that aren’t in a library, maybe because you need a custom version for your codebase — like date formatters. They’re just annoying to code, but not hard, and often it’s tedious to remember and look up things like date format strings. Use git! Since AI stuff can do insanely dumb things to your code, like mass removing functionality, I usually commit whatever I have to git before getting AI to make a change. Then I can review the diffs to look for stupidity and danger. It's basic, but using a lot of WIP commits in my AI workflow has really helped me step through it in useful ways. How do I/Find this for me — it’s a fast way to ask, not just “how do I do X in Rust/Elixir/TypeScript” or to find a library function when I've forgotten the name, but a better question: - What are some ways to do X? - And what are the trade-offs? Even for things I know how to do, often I’ll ask to see if I’ve missed an approach. Architectural advice — Really great for exploring ideas. You can start with “I want to build X, what are some strategies?” You can use AI as a “rubber ducky” to talk through options and get useful insight. Code reviews — Often you can get valuable insights by just giving the AI your code and asking it to look for issues

@levelsio With all this negative news around Hetzner, plus them raising prices on me last week, I’m tempted to move everything over to Vultr. They seem the most chill. Digital Ocean is a no no for me though.
