Project Hail Mary: extremely mid if you enjoyed Interstellar. This is just a children's movie with a big budget, cringe jokes, no care for scientific accuracy, and no care for its own stakes because the movie is too busy laughing at itself. the alien is new and cool tho

The astrophage space scene in ‘PROJECT HAIL MARY’ was created by tiny LEDs placed on chicken wire that were used while pouring water in front of the lens to refract the light. It was then shot with an Alexa LF camera with the infrared filter removed.

@NotEfgubb @phl43 @JJ_H2K when the other person is talking nonsense, it's actually totally legitimate to walk away from the conversation, life is too short to waste time talking to stupid people

Once again, if both the demand and the supply for something is very inelastic in the short term and you suddenly cut ~15% of supplies, the price will go to insane levels in relatively short order. This will continue until either Hormuz is reopened no matter how exactly or it reaches such a level that it triggers a recession that will "solve" the problem by destroying enough demand. There is nothing mysterious or unexpected about it and the only reason anyone is surprised by this is because people have memed themselves into believing that basic economics was a panican conspiracy.
NoLimit@NoLimitGains

I can’t believe it. This is absolutely insane. We are in uncharted territory.

@thsottiaux could we get access to GPT-5.4-nano in Codex? i do need it for cron-based light web searches, simple summaries, etc. for very simple stuff, even GPT-5.4-mini seems overkill sometimes also price-wise it's the true replacement for GPT-5-mini with better performance

For those curious about how the Artemis II crew is sharing photos on social media during their journey, Reid said the following during his February 20 weekly update: “…all four astronauts will hand their social media over to our respective agencies… so while we’re up there, our social media coordinator for the astronaut office, Camille, will be posting… so we will write the content, we’ll give her the ideas, we’ll send pictures down while we’re on our way out to the Moon and back, and then she’ll do the posting on the various platforms… it’s us posting, but not directly, because we will not have internet connection while we’re out there on the Deep Space Network.” instagram.com/reel/DU_whd5Dp…

@4xiom_ @arubikscube yes nothing comes close to what a motherboard can allow in bandwidth, it can still be better than nothing tho, especially for cheap GPUs or if you plan to keep the GPU long term, but you'll have to accept 15-40% lower performance depending on the GPU and edge cases

@aidenybai yeah a lot of people are using them as a summoning ritual or something and this is useless i use skills for two things: - to save my agent a websearch of some specific docs that i feel would probably be diluted in the weights - reuse a prompt that i'm lazy to type everytime

@peti_poua @phl43 Who do you think was the president who started lethal aid to ukraine? I think you should probably thank Rubio and Lindsey Graham and McConnell, et al. The presidents who allowed him to invade should probably be at the bottom of your list

@wastetime @phl43 look, Europeans observed how Trump tried to make a deal with Putin against Ukraine, and i guess now we're just thinking: "see? it's not so bad to make a deal with the evil forces after all, Trump is doing it and it's no big deal!" you're very inspiring to us you know
