If a company is going to train a $5B model, wouldn't it make sense to use 5% of that to build a custom ASIC for that model? The benefits are certain to dwarf the 5% investment.
At these scales, even ASIC design costs become marginal.

@strikesme Responsible treasury management is not something startups have really had to think about. Agree that we will see a bunch of new products in this space so that CEOs don't have to spend too many cycles on this moving forward.

@pfazzone Brex can load balance across 9 banks (250k*9= 2.25M FDIC) for operating capital. What is lacking is a automated treasury mgmt that is tunable to the risk attitude of a private board. I think all these NuBanks will start adding those features now around better treasury mgmt.

1. What is the updated guidance VCs are providing their portfolio companies on what their banking strategy should be moving forward? Until Thursday night, banking with SVB was considered safe/recommended/default.

@pfazzone Longer term: Spreading accounts across custodial banks ( think BNY) for long term safe keeping and commercial banks for operating expenses might make sense but the ecosystem might need new financial products.

Bay Area infrastructure is absolutely terrible. Whether it’s forest fires, thunderstorms/rain, or excessive heat, electric power and internet fails almost religiously.
Or is it just Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Los Altos areas? Bewildering to see how poorly it’s set up and managed.

Verification should be positive - both for user & platform. If the process increases platform validity (routes out bots/etc) but costs $ to deliver w/ high confidence, charge for it (or comp it for those with huge following). But make it really count (1 time charge). @elonmusk

@appenz Yes, agreed that the UI could be more optimized for different presenter forums (the days of the huge room preso that the application is optimized for are few and far between)....BUT the feature is there, no one uses it, and a lot of time is wasted as a result!

@pfazzone Fully agree how way to few people use it. That said, Microsoft's UI design is really broken here. So I am a speaker presenting to a group of people, and have to select "Browsed by an Individual"? And in a world where most meetings are Zoom, this is buried in "Set Up Show"?
