Your tax dollars just paid a French oil company to stop building American electricity, and the gas it’s being replaced with is getting shipped overseas to Europe and Asia.    The Trump Administration is PAYING to kill projects that would have lowered your costs.      They tried to kill these projects through the courts and lost. So instead of accepting that, they wrote a billion dollar check with YOUR money, and they are trying to do it AGAIN.    I introduced an amendment to stop Trump from using your tax dollars like an ATM to keep your utility bills high.

Source after source told 60 Minutes they fear today’s insider trading scandal about military secrets is tomorrow’s national security scandal. If market-watchers can spot irregular trades, surely enemies can, too. And they’ll make their war plans accordingly. cbsn.ws/4uVMNdv

Alligator Alcatraz is closing after one year and wasting $1B to house 1400 immigrants. That's an eye-popping $714,285 per occupant. Everything this administration does is filled with fraud and waste. wlrn.org/2026-05-14/des…

@CuriousInkCo @Politi_Chick @Isikoff @nytimes @LuluGNavarro I'm genuinely curious what "research" I should be doing. I opened my "yap" to ask if having 1 parent who seems financially successful meant you are rich. Then a bunch of people ran out to gatekeep who gets to call themselves working class. Not sure what my sin was.

This @nytimes story by @LuluGNavarro on progressive fav Graham Platner-he of the Nazi tattoo who presents himself as a working class oysterman- casts him as something of a fraud: a “prep school kid” who went to tony private school and whose wealthy father financed his house and paid for him and his wife to fly to Norway for expensive fertility treatments.

U.S. arms sales to Taiwan aren't negotiating chips – they're required by law under the Taiwan Relations Act. More than that, they're central to a free and open Indo-Pacific, and our own national and economic security.

@Buckldbuttercup @Phila_Mino Read the NYT article. There is some money in his background, but lived with his divorced mother, who doesn't sound well off, worked manual jobs as a kid for money, enlisted in the Marines and left with a disability. That seems to suggest his background is not that privileged.

Easy to solve: go ask a bus driver if he agrees that Platner has similar concerns to his own? If you don't know a bus driver or such like, you're probably not working class either.
Patrick Graber@pggraber

@Isikoff @nytimes @LuluGNavarro Quick question, are you suggesting that a person is not working class is their parent was well off? I'm not an expert on Platner. Can you clarify, does he have money or does/did his dad, does he live paycheck to paycheck as he says? It seems his Dad's money isn't really relevant

@LadaMokusa I didn't say his childhood was terrible or that he grew up in worse circumstances than everyone else, I said his experience seemed pretty working class. I don't understand the desire to insist that everyone must struggle as much as you or they were rich.

“Worked part time jobs doing physical work” well cry me a river . . . you just described my teens, where I also paid for groceries during times when one of my working class parents was laid off.
Patrick Graber@pggraber

@Politi_Chick @Isikoff @nytimes @LuluGNavarro The NYT article describes a childhood that was not "wealthy." Divorced parents, lived with his mom who does not sound well off in the article, worked part-time jobs doing physical work, enlisted in the Marines at 19... Not exactly the life of lumber baroness Susan Collins.

@SydneyRTR @ProtesterLone @Isikoff Yes, she just cosplays as a moderate who's "very concerned" about all kinds of things, but always seems to put those concerns aside to vote conservative. I'd rather the guy who might be downplaying some of his background over the senator who lies about her politics

@pggraber @ProtesterLone @Isikoff She’s not cosplaying as a member of the working class though. At issue is his inauthenticity. When people talk about working class, they are talking about a socioeconomic group that tends to be economically and socially vulnerable, not downwardly mobile trust fund babies.

If you’re the scion of a wealthy Maine family, get sent to fancy private schools, your Dad finances your home, pays for you and your wife to fly to Norway and picks up the tab for your fertility treatments AND your Mom is the main customer of your oyster farm, it does undermine the idea you are uniquely attuned to the experiences of the working class.

@Phila_Mino His mom and dad were divorced, he lived with his mom, who seems to have run a series of businesses that failed. He worked part-time doing manual labor as a kid then enlisted in the USMC at 19. He left after multiple deployments and with disability. That sound pretty working class

@pggraber The question at the desk is not whether Platner or Collins has a better understanding of the common Joe, the question is whether Platner is a liar about a range of things, including his working-class background. The answer to that question is yes, irrespective of Susan Collins.

@SydneyRTR @Isikoff He grew up with his mom, who owned a series of businesses that seem to have all failed, he worked part-time doing physical labor, then joined the Marines at 19. Many would consider that a fairly honorable choice, but if you consider it "downwadly mobile," that's your right.

@SydneyRTR @Isikoff I'm sorry, I missed the part of the article that discussed a trust fund? Does he have a trust fund? His father, who is divorced from his mother since Platner was a child, sound pretty successful, but nothing says he's even a millionaire.

Ben McKenzie: Last year, a crypto company estimated $154 billion of criminal activity was facilitated via cryptocurrency. The largest stablecoin company is called Tether. The broker for Tether is Cantor Fitzgerald, Howard Lutnick's firm. And Tether is the primary instrument for criminal activity in cryptocurrency.
