@SirMichaelRocks He’s not doing anything bro, he’s extorting the state by threatening unreasonable tax policies on the most consequential employers, gov Hochul is up for election so she coughed up 4B$ of state funding so Zo would stop for a couple years. Don’t believe this nonsense he’s done nada

Can somebody educated in politics explain to me how Mamdani is able to do all this stuff but no other politician is ever able to make any noticeable progress? How does he evade the same bureaucracy the other politicians always blame for not being able to do shit?

@ZaidJilani They can't do that because there would be massive public backlash within Israel at the idea that they're expected to treat the Palestinians as human.

The Israeli government had an easy out after Kristof's story. They could've said: "Israel is a modern democracy based on the rule of law. Now that these allegations have come to light, we will not rest until they are fully investigated." Wonder why they didn't do that?

I found out that our Marxists friends don't understand surplus value or even info-graphics. You have to explain it to them as if they were kids. I took effort to make this.

@jamiezerofour @harriepw In a functioning democracy, they would have a right to have the question of whether they are terrorists answered by a jury of their peers.

I get it. You are very invested in this factional fight. I am not. I am very invested in seeing that Donald Trump leaves office below 30% approval rating and Americans view his presidency as the failure it is so we never do this again. But you do you!
David Sirota@davidsirota

It’s interesting that the corporate Democratic/country club Republican faction that has fought such a vicious factional war inside the Dem Party for so long is suddenly calling for a factional ceasefire now that Dem voters are so intensely rejecting their corporate centrism.

I’m a Starmer bitter-ender. For the simple small-D democratic reason that he won a national mandate and his term isn’t up. I don’t understand this notion that bad local election results mean the prime minister should resign.

@shannonrwatts 1) Identity politics is all you losers have. There’s nothing feminist about supporting corrupt corporate owned ghouls who happen to be women. 2) Don’t disparage Juliana Stratton by lumping her in with those other three losers.

@Aella_Girl 200 years ago only like 10% of the white population in America had jobs. Needing to sell your labor to a company for subsistence is a relatively new thing.

i genuinely do not understand this reasoning. What do people think we did before capitalism? like the labor people did for their own basic necessities was... just not slavery somehow? like the default state of nature is lounging peacefully on the ground eating berries?
Idalis !@IdalisReign

@JMary64u everything we do under capitalism or an exchange of labor/bodies for currency and basic necessities is slavery.

@chipoodler @JoyceCarolOates I honestly think the best strategy to get into Harvard is not actually focusing on academics because there's too much competition there, but instead focusing on getting really good at an obscure wealthy person sport like rowing, sailing, or squash.

@_InfinitePest_ @JoyceCarolOates In fact, athletic recruits tend to be farther off the mark academically than legacies. They also tend to wealthy and there are more of them than legacies. There are also a lot of rich kids gaming the system with ginned up disability accommodations.

Really interesting read from @davidfrum “It has become an article of faith among progressives that Kamala Harris lost in 2024 because she did not talk enough about Palestinians and Gaza. The actual data available confirm that Harris lost because she was seen as too far to the left of where most voters placed themselves. But beliefs do not have to be based on truth to motivate action. In the 2026 cycle, Democrats are elevating candidates who have taken positions that would have once seemed politically suicidal: a U.S. House candidate in New Jersey who served as a character witness for “the blind sheikh” behind the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center; a U.S. Senate candidate in Michigan who campaigned with Hasan Piker, a Twitch streamer who has said that America deserved 9/11; and a candidate for U.S. Senate in Maine who unconvincingly claimed not to know that the skull-and-crossbones tattoo he had worn for almost 20 years was associated with the Nazi SS.”
David Frum@davidfrum

Progressives are sabotaging the 2026 contest vs Trump's "America First" by perversely attempting to impose the worst possible counter-message: "Gaza First." Latest in @TheAtlantic theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/05/…

@StefanMcGrath @JoyceCarolOates LOL Harvard literally had to introduce a remedial math class to teach high school math to the rich dunces. Do you really think people like George W Bush and the Winklevoss twins were A students in high school?

@_InfinitePest_ @JoyceCarolOates There are not, this is stupid. The legacies/athletes etc. who get admitted to Harvard are also A students; the legacy/athletics just gives them an edge over other A students who are not. (Source: I was a non-legacy/non-athlete Harvard admission).

Jeff Bezos was born in Alberquerque to a 17 year old high school mom who divorced his alcoholic dad before Jeff was 2. He worked at McDonald's before his grades earned his way into Princeton. He started Amazon in a garage with a 245k investment from his parents. That's reality.
