Een sterke landbouwsector waar we goed voedsel produceren tegen een eerlijke prijs en in balans met de natuur. Dat is een van de topprioriteiten die dit kabinet beetpakt samen met boeren. Vandaag was ik in Dronten op bezoek op de Aeres Hogeschool. Hier worden de agrariërs van de toekomst opgeleid. Ik zag hier bij de hbo’ers, mbo’ers en vmbo’ers heel veel optimisme, bevlogenheid en passie gezien en gehoord. Maar ik hoorde ook nadrukkelijk de oproep aan de overheid om duidelijkheid te bieden over beleid. En natuurlijk begrijp ik ook de zorgen die sommige van deze jongeren hebben over hun toekomst als boer. Het eerlijke verhaal is dat niet alles meer overal kan en dat soms vraagt om ander ondernemerschap. Van de overheid kunnen boeren verwachten dat wij – met hen - alles op alles zetten om hiervoor de ruimte te geven. Zo bouwen we samen aan een toekomstbestendige landbouwsector. Dit inspirerende werkbezoek geeft mij ontzettend veel vertrouwen. De jongeren die ik sprak zijn volop bezig om te kijken naar wat er wél kan. Wij hebben hen keihard nodig voor de duurzame landbouw van de toekomst. Daar gaan we samen voor aan de slag.
