Presenting our audit findings of the implications of maternal gentamicin in neonates at #NPPG2023. Seems like many units had not considered this and prompting lots of discussions and plans to implement elsewhere! @NUHNeonatal @NUHPharmacy

So I made sure the session included helpful clear visuals, simple instructions, checklists and strategies to help support when prescribing & a bit of "doing"as there is plenty of evidence this helps ND when done in a RELAXED LOW KEY environment. @NUHPharmacy @NUHNeonatal @Autism

I delivered my regular induction sess to new trainees on NICU.Only for the 1st time I thought about neurodiversity from the perspective of those working there.Autism doesn't stop at adulthood but is less likely to be understood or supported 1/2

In less serious news the favourite child, Peppa, turns 4 today. 😁🐕 She even got a birthday card from her bestie Martha! Ignore the bitey faces when they play. It's a retriever thing!

(3/3) Prescribing mixed insulin? These are a rapid & long acting insulin hanging out together in one mixture. Due to rapid bit in there you need to give with a meal. If patient says they take morning and evening they DON’T mean at bedtime. #InsulinSafetyWeek2022

(2/3) Prescribing a rapid acting insulin? You’re going to want to coincide with meals cos that baby will work quickly. Giving at bedtime will cause a hypo. Prescribing a long acting insulin? This guy is slow and steady. Timing doesn’t matter but keep the time fixed each day

How can pharmacokinetics help with #insulinsafety ? Many insulins are adapted to affect how quickly they work and how long they last. My top tip for insulin safety - Think about the pharmacokinetic profile when prescribing (1/3)
